«o» If Obama's economic policies are working at all this may be it showing - Last week's unemployment claim filings dropped by 13,000 to 316,000... the lowest total claims filed since 2000 and the fourth decline in five weeks.
«o» This had been planned for a while but a destabilization operation got in the way - Syria's president Bashar Assad has delivered an executive order that there will a referendum vote on a new constitution and multiple political parties. That vote will happen on the 26th of this month. The calls for Assad to step down and attacks by CIA supplied rebels continue however.
«o» President Obama is threatening to veto a Republican transportation bill that would cut unions out of federal contracts and ease environmental regulations.
«o» Even as NATO negotiates to reopen roadways closed to them due to previous attacks on Pakistani civilians and troops, there has been another drone attack in Waziristan killing eleven alleged terrorists. CIA operated drones have a truly awful track record with a 50:1 civilian to 'combatant' kill ratio according to numbers released by Pakistan a few years ago. Recent mainstream media reports indicate the strikes are often followed by another strike on people coming to assist and rescue, which would kill even more civilians.
«o» The European Union's finance minsters are balking at a $1.7 trillion dollar loan guarantee/bailout of the Greek economy despite that country's parliamentary vote for economic austerity measures such as cutting the country's minimum wage in half. Riots in the streets of Athens continue. At least 100 buildings have been burned.
