The US is demanding major changes in corruption policies and laws from the Afghani government under former UNOCAL consultant (and illegitimately elected president) Hamid Karzai or we might cut off aid and military support. The House Judiciary Committee is looking into why civilian trials are considered OK for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his cohorts but not for the rest of the Guantanamo inmates.
About 200 Guantanamo captives are being prepared for movement to Montana, Colorado and Illinois Super Security prison facilities. The Colorado and Illinois SuperMax facilities are standing empty because the states can't afford to run them.
It's notable that 100+ of the 200 being transferred are technically waiting for release, with no country willing to accept them.
