» The Supreme Court ruled yesterday that 1.4 million women, the number involved in suing WalMart for workplace discrimination, is too large a 'class' to file a single suit. The USSC also tossed out a suit against the Tennessee Valley Authority and Midwest power companies over CO2 emissions claiming the EPA was responsible for enforcing those regulations.

» President Obama will address the nation tomorrow with the details of our Afghanistan troop non-withdrawal and then he will visit Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain division, with the dubious honor of having done more rotations into the theatre than any other unit of the US Army.

» Jon Huntsman, former governor of Utah and ambassador to China just announced he will run for the Republican presidential nomination. 160 other Republicans have registered for the primaries... from nudists, to another who claims to have done more drugs than anyone else in the world and whose platform is based on his intent to create a division of Space Cadets in the US military. He's too stoned to know there already IS one.

» It's becoming a small nepotistic circle of warmongers - Leon Panetta will be confirmed as the new Secretary of Defense today in a Senate confirmation vote and General Petraeus will replace him at the CIA.

» Vice President Joe Biden has scheduled daily meetings with the Republicans regarding the now-upon-us debt limit. The Republicans want to cut $2 trillion dollars from the US budget deficit over the next ten years.

» It's Woodstock for Druids at Stonehenge as the first day of summer dawns on us all once again and tens of thousands of people camp near the Runes(sic) all night to watch the sun come up through the ancient monoliths.

I think this settles the argument about who's 'raping' who (The West is 'Raping' Libya):
"M. Cherif Bassiouni, chairman of a United Nations commission investigating human rights violations in Libya, said he and his team had so far interviewed only one (Rape) victim and had been told about a handful of other cases... I'm saying I don't have the evidence for it yet.

Much of the controversy as well as the early, unconfirmed evidence of mass rapes has centered on the work of a Libyan psychologist in Benghazi, Dr. Seham Sergewa.

Dr. Sergewa said that she had identified at least 259 victims of rape from more than 60,000 responses to surveys she and other volunteers distributed over several weeks in eastern Libya and along the Tunisian border. She said she had personally interviewed 140 rape victims.

But other doctors have attacked her research and methods, saying it seems unlikely that she could have distributed so many surveys, even in the best of times. The doctors, including the head of Benghazi's Psychiatric Hospital, Dr. Ali M. Elroey, say she has been unwilling to open her research for peer review... [More @ The NYTimes]
Note that the rebels apparently admit to evidence destruction in the above article:
Many people say they have seen cellphone videos of rapes, though such videos have been hard to locate because, Colonel Qaddafi's opponents assert, cellphone users quickly deleted them to protect the women.
Also note, if YOU were the cellphone owner who hung around to... was trusted by the rapist(s) enough to be allowed to record such a horrific thing would you have really "quickly deleted them to protect the women"? Yours truly smells BullShit.

[After the commentary, John Prine. You all know THIS song so let's sing along! Courtesy of the respective artists and KPIG Radio Freedom California, Earth.]

» Maybe he had a relative who fought in an African CIA army and was looking for their grave? An Ethiopian citizen found in the cemetery near the Pentagon has been detained as a potential terrorist despite the fact that he's apparently not on any list, was doing nothing particularly suspicious, and his car parked nearby contained no evidence of the 'tools of terror'.

» Hostility... What does that mean? The Obama administration's brief to congress regarding why our involvement in the war on Libya doesn't require War Powers action claims the president's actions are legal because there are (allegedly) "...no US troops in harm's way." and the UN resolution plus NATO's approval are 'good to go' reasons as well. A number of congress members on both sides of the aisle believe that's utter bullshit and have filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration for bypassing congress.

» Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner of New York has resigned his seat in Congress. He loses his $174,000 salary but gets to keep his congressional health and retirement benefits. A special election to fill his seat will be scheduled.

In retrospect let it be duly noted that hypocrisy is the "Congressional Way":
Republicans living in glass brothels shouldn't cast stones at lewd tweets
o
o
o
In addition to right-wing media, GOP House Majority leader Eric Cantor has called for Weiner's resignation. In a statement he said, I don't condone his activity, I think he should resign. Keep in mind that this is the same Eric Cantor who was asked in July 2009 by Fox News' Chris Wallace if Republican South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford should resign after admitting to an extramarital affair and using state funds for a trip to Argentina to visit his mistress?" Cantor said, Well in the instance of the people of South Carolina -- it is up to them. So it's up to them -- the voters in South Carolina in the case of Sanford, but Weiner should resign? By the way, did we mention that Sanford also "lied" to cover his getaway with the mistress, saying he was hiking on the Appalachian trails. Eric Cantor and not a single Republican said that Sanford should resign.

So this writer along with most fair-minded Americans are growing tired of the hypocrisy coming from the "family values" Republican Party as if we have suddenly forgotten:

Pete Sessions (R-TX) who held fundraisers at a strip club in Vegas called Forty Deuce.

The RNC using party funds to pay rich, young Republican donors to attend an evening at Voyeur, a West Hollywood bondage-themed club with topless strippers and waitresses.

Republican Senator David Vitter who was re-elected and remains a U.S. senator after his number showed up on a list of the "D.C. Madam" who owned a high-end house of prostitution.

If the Republicans are going to be consistent, why are they not asking for David Vitter's resignation... isn't soliciting a prostitute illegal?

At the end of the day, what we have here... [Continue reading @ Examiner.com]
» We almost lost Missouri - A nuclear power plant in that state is now surrounded by flood waters. Fortunately the plant was non-operational when the externally supplied power for the fuel rod cooling operation went out, or it could have been Fukushima/Missouri.

» First, a clarification on yesterday's article about the Senate's vote on Ethanol tax breaks, from The Hill:
Senate kills off ethanol tax breaks in possible break with tax pledge
By Ben Geman and Josiah Ryan

The Senate voted 73-27 Thursday to kill a major tax break that benefits the ethanol industry, handing a political win to a bipartisan group of lawmakers that call the incentive needless and expensive. The vote also could have ramifications on future votes to reduce the deficit. Much of the GOP conference supported Feinstein's bill even though it does not include another tax break to offset the elimination of the ethanol tax credit. [More Details @ The Hill]

U.S. relations with Pakistan further deteriorates as the Pakistani government refuse visas to twelve members of a Pentagon counterinsurgency team and the Pakistani government is planning to not renew one hundred and twenty more visas for similar operators already in the country as their visas expire.

» There have been reports that Osama bin-Laden's #2 Ayman al-Zawahiri will be the new 'leader' of al-Qaeda. he is believed to be in Waziristan.

The statement also reaffirmed the group's fight against the "crusader America and its servant Israel, and whoever supports them" (Tel).

The Journal reports that CIA chief Leon Panetta is working to gain the release from Pakistani custody of a Pakistani army doctor said to have been detained for helping the United States track bin Laden down (WSJ). The doctor, identified by some news sources as Major Amir Aziz, owns a house close to the Abbottabad compound where bin Laden was killed, and may have rented the house to CIA agents observing bin Laden (McClatchy, BBC, Independent, CNN). Pakistan's military has publicly denied the arrest of any military officer (ET, AP, ET). [Read More]

The Pentagon has never admitted to doing so.

Obama administration: Libya action does not require congressional approval

By Scott Wilson

June 15 2011

The Obama administration argued Wednesday that its nearly three-month-old military involvement in Libya does not require congressional approval because of the supporting role most U.S. forces are playing there, a position that puts it at odds with some Republican leaders and the antiwar wing of its own party.

The White House reasoning, included in a 32-page report to Congress, is the administration's first detailed response to complaints from lawmakers of both parties, who say President Obama has exceeded his authority as commander in chief by waging war in Libya without congressional authorization.

The report came on the same day a bipartisan group of lawmakers filed suit in federal court against Obama seeking to end the U.S. participation in Libya, pushing what has been a slow-moving confrontation over the power of the president at a time of war toward the center of the political debate... It goes like this: "Problem, Reaction, Solution". View an extended explanation version video here. Courtesy of the respective artists.]

» Relations between the US and Pakistan continue to deteriorate as the Pakistanis arrests five people involved in the Osama bin-Laden raid in Abbottabad... the problem is the arrested are CIA assets.

From Foreign Policy Morning Brief:
Pakistan's military intelligence agency has arrested five CIA informants whose information led to the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, U.S. officials told the New York Times. One of those arrested is reportedly a Pakistani Army major who copied down the license plate numbers of the cars arriving and leaving bin Laden's compound in Abottabad.

The arrests, which were apparently discussed by outgoing CIA director Leon Panetta when he visited Islamabad last week, are just the latest example of the increasingly tense relation between Pakistan and the United States on counterterrorism issues. When asked to rate Pakistani cooperation on a scale of 1 to 10 in a closed-door Senate briefing last week, Deputy CIA Director Michael J. Morrell reportedly responded, "three."

Pakistan's Army strongly denied that one of its officers was among those arrested, calling the report "false and totally baseless."

It has also been reported that Hassan Ghul, the former detainee who provided key information about bin Laden's courier, has rejoined al Qaeda. Ghul, a former midlevel al Qaeda operative, was transferred by the Bush administration from a secret CIA prison to Pakistani custody in 2006, then released a year later. [Source]

In OTHER News:

America! Listen! Your lifestyle is killing you!

It's not your fault. Your lifestyle has been forced upon you unknowingly and collectively since the day most of you were born until it simply became the expected way to be in industrialized American society.

There are people making literally billions of dollars in profits as an end result of your being poisoned by the lifestyle you are literally 'sold', and they've known about the poisonous nature of the 'industrial output' that supplies your lifestyle for a long long time.

Your poisoners thought they could simply create the materials for the lifestyle in some third world country where it would be easy for you to ignore the fact that your lifestyle is poisonous to everything and everyone on the planet, and the media myth machine has acted in concert with them to have you believe that it is true... That you can have something for nothing. But it is just your poisoned life displaced, and the poison comes home, quite literally, to you anyway. 'Terrorism' is also one of those poisons.

They are telling you 'Nevermind that...". But nevertheless, the way you live is killing you.
