» America's financial situation is continuing to deteriorate as the Republicans say no to any revenue raising plans to balance the 2012 budget. If congress agreed today on what to do it would take a month to write the bill and then another month to pass it. In other words, shortly, we will be running on continuing resolutions based on the federal budget from two years ago. President Obama says he will hold daily conference with congressional leaders about it and the debt limit.
» In Kandahar province Afghanistan, the kingmaker/Afghani Mafia Capo of the region, Hamid Karzai's half brother, who was also a player in the Afghan opium trade, has been assassinated by one of his own bodyguards. Hamid Karzai says it will not make any difference but the local council was under the Karzai family thumb and has been totally disrupted.
» Over the last few days Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta went to Kabul Afghanistan and Baghdad Iraq. At Camp Victory just outside of Baghdad there was a rocket attack to welcome him. The situation in Iraq is 'deteriorating' (for us) and Panetta has said if conditions don't improve the US will go back to a combat footing with ground patrols... As if they ever really stopped. But it DOES means we'll essentially go back to war in Iraq with the Muqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army, and by extension, Iran.
» Since the CIA-led rebels in Libya have done such a bad job, even with MASSIVE Western military logistic and air support, a second front has been opened in that war attempting to move on Tripoli from the West... The Tunisian border. Needless to say there is no Tunisian army worth talking about at that border to stop their cross-border incursions and the rebels have had easy pickings of the small towns in their path... about 40-60 miles away from Tripoli.
» In Southern California Jane Harman has resigned her seat in Orange County, a relatively right wing area of the state. Expect a Republican to get elected.
» In Wisconsin the Republicans have seeded the primary elections with Faux Democrats. The elections, intended to unseat the six Republican state senators who delivered the vote for the elimination of benefits and labor bargaining rights for state workers will be forced into a runoff. That buys the Republicans about a month to further damage the state's economy and it's worker's wallets.

Get to ringing those bells and sending those warning shots -- it's the start of recall season in Wisconsin. The first primary in those elections is happening today in the six Republican-held Senate districts.
Today's vote is especially interesting given the fake, "zombie" Democrats running against the actual Democratic challengers. The state GOP encouraged and endorsed these actual Republicans to run as spoiler candidates in order to 1) force primaries, thereby delaying the final recall elections long enough, they hope, to give the incumbents more time to organize and to deplete Democrat's energy, and 2) to possibly actually see the fake Dems win the primaries so they can then run half-assed campaigns against the incumbents.

COLQUITT, Ga. — The heat and the drought are so bad in this southwest corner of Georgia that hogs can barely eat. Corn, a lucrative crop with a notorious thirst, is burning up in fields. Cotton plants are too weak to punch through soil so dry it might as well be pavement.
Farmers with the money and equipment to irrigate are running wells dry in the unseasonably early and particularly brutal national drought that some say could rival the Dust Bowl days.
“It’s horrible so far,” said Mike Newberry, a Georgia farmer who is trying grow cotton, corn and peanuts on a thousand acres. “There is no description for what we’ve been through since we started planting corn in March.”
The pain has spread across 14 states, from Florida, where severe water restrictions are in place, to Arizona, where ranchers could be forced to sell off entire herds of cattle because they simply cannot feed them.
In Texas, where the drought is the worst, virtually no part of the state has been untouched. City dwellers and ranchers have been tormented by excessive heat and high winds. In the Southwest, wildfires are chewing through millions of acres.
Last month, the United States Department of Agriculture designated all 254 counties in Texas natural disaster areas, qualifying them for varying levels of federal relief. More than 30 percent of the state’s wheat fields might be lost, adding pressure to a crop in short supply globally.
Even if weather patterns shift and relief-giving rain comes, losses will surely head past $3 billion in Texas alone, state agricultural officials said... More at the New York Times.

» In the war on Libya there are some gains on the ground by the NATO backed CIA-led Libyan 'rebels'.
» Karachi Pakistan is under a "shoot to kill anyone with a weapon" order from the government after months of sectarian fighting. Could it be a CIA destabilization operation in the manner of the US government's attempts to destabilize Jamaica during Michael Manley's administration by flooding the island with American weapons? Maybe... but different... There are already a huge amount of high power weapons in Pakistan.

The death toll in Karachi's newest round of violence has reportedly claimed more than 90 lives since Tuesday, as security forces in the city have been given orders to shoot gunmen on sight (ET, BBC, DT, Dawn, AP, Reuters, ET, Times, BBC, DT, Tel, AJE, CNN). Much of the city was quiet after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) called for a day of mourning today, though they canceled a planned protest rally amidst fears of greater violence (Dawn, DT, Dawn, Dawn, Dawn). Pakistan's interior minister Rehman Malik announced the deployment Thursday of 1,000 paramilitary Frontier Corps personnel to help quell the violence (ET, AFP). BAGHDAD – Gay U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan said Thursday that a federal appeals court order to stop enforcement of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy puts them one step closer to revealing their sexual orientation without fear of retribution or dismissal.
A three-judge panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ordered the Pentagon on Wednesday to cease investigations and discharges of service members in violation of the ban on gays serving openly in the military... ...The Defense Department will comply with the court order and took steps late Wednesday to begin informing the forces of the change, according to Marine Col. Dave Lapan, a Pentagon spokesman.

Radicals, Imbeciles & FBI Stooges: From Jerry Rubin To Rich Fink, We’ve Reached Rock-Bottom, Baby!

I just came across a massive dump of FBI files on the YIPPIES (PDF)–the legendary 60?s youth movement led by Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman. They declassified and released over 6,600 pages of FBI surveillance and intel on the Yippies—unfiltered, a direct wormhole to that era.
And what an awful fucking era it was. People were either mean or stupid, on a scale that almost makes you appreciate today’s problems. Almost.
I spent a few obsessed hours amazed at the sheer scale of the FBI’s (and other services’) surveillance and infiltration into the Yippies—it’s a lot uglier, a lot more demoralizing and less romantic, than that cartoon movie about The Chicago 10 would have you think.
What becomes clear after the first few hundred pages is that they considered the Yippies to be a real threat–and from the material collected, it’s easy to see why the Yippies really were such a serious threat to established power, much more serious than we remember them in our filtered way. They weren’t just against the draft or the Vietnam War or against stuffy old people with short hair; the radicals in the 60’s were against capitalism.
The 60's radicals were nothing at all like the version we get today, which portrays the hippies and revolutionaries as a bunch of spaced-out New Age nudists who just want to be left alone to screw, get high and dance without being bothered by “The Man.”... [Theres More]
In later years I was involved with spin-offs of Yip but many of the people 'went South'. I know of at least one well-known Yippie! who moved to JDL right wing Zionist ‘activism’ after the 60s (Lee Penn)... One of Abbie's closest 'friends' in New York, and knew the informant (George Demmerle) who blew his cover to bust Sam Melville and friends for the planned New York armory raid.
Demmerle WAS a provocateur. The wildest and Kraziest guy... He was known as "Prince Krazie" and wore a purple(?) football helmet with a brush mounted in the top like a Roman centurion. I remember he insisted on carrying his protest signs attached to a wooden pole, illegal in New York at the time (albeit the carpet roll tubes commonly used probably could inflict more hurt...).
He got on my bad side at Woodstock when, on the first (rainy) night, he damn near knocked down the cabin tent I and a few others were staying in when, while we were smoking some hash, bashing on the tent with his fists yelling: "It's the police! You're under arrest!!". I never did trust him after that.

In that group, whom one can search from the info above, at least 3 more of the core members turned out to be various kinds of infiltrators, John Birch Society affiliated informers etc. Even the fellow who ran the local radical news agency, Lou Salzberg was a regular... and FBI informant.
Those names probably fill two blanked out informer's names in the documents provided by the PDF link for you.

» Fifteen Americans have been killed in Iraq this month, the highest monthly count of dead Americans in the country since the US allegedly garrisoned it's troops (NOT!). Meanwhile Muqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army is re-arming itself and their leader has plainly stated that if the Iraqi government allows US or NATO troops to stay past the deadline for withdrawal he will immediately order attacks on all of them AND the al-Maliki quisling government.
» Military suicides are also casualties of war - President Obama has changed the policy regarding condolence letters to the families of dead soldiers. He will begin issuing the letters to the families of suicides and any other soldier who dies in a combat zone.

5,800 Attacks Are Just The Beginning After Petraeus’ Year-Long Air War

When Gen. David Petraeus took command of the Afghan war effort a year ago, his officers insisted that there was no way he’d go back to the bad old days of bombing the country from the sky. This was a counterinsurgency campaign, they said; winning over the population was way more important than nailing any target. Airstrikes would be solely a “tactic of last resort,” as one general told Danger Room, used only if ground troops “cannot withdraw.”

U.S. Special Forces to offset troop withdrawal in Afghanistan
U.S. military leaders are working to replace some of the exiting American conventional forces from Afghanistan with a "mini-surge" of U.S. Special Forces, a measure to soothe commanders' fears that the withdrawal of troops might put at risk military gains, according to The Times out of Australia. In the Senate Harry Reid has offered a tax resolution that would cut into tax breaks for millionaires and impose a new tax rate above the maximum 35% current rate for corporations. No one expects it to pass but it's a benchmark, and tomorrow Obama is scheduled to meet the congressional leaders (again)about the debt limit. » Britain will pull 500 of it's 9,500 troops from Afghanistan by the end of next year. That will occur in the wake of an alleged 33,000 troop US withdrawal... leaving 60,000 US soldier and a countless number of CIA operators and mercenaries in the country.
» In California, the Pelican Bay Maixumum Security Prison Security Housing Unit (aka the 'SHU') hunger strike continues with Corcoran SHU and other facilities now following those prisoner's lead. The demands: Better food... Better clothes (it's very cold in the winter), and one phone call a month. The cells the inmates are kept in are the equivalent of cages with not enough headroom to stand up straight... crippling them for life after a few years. All it takes to end up in one of these cages is have any inmate anywhere in the California prison system accuse you of being a 'gang member'. The investigations are limited, and rubber-stamped.

» In case you didn't notice the news media shut down for the 4th of July holiday with the papers full of the Casey Anthony Matricide murder trial or the IMF leader's sex scandal trial.
» Congress is in session and the first vote on limiting the president's ability to make war on Libya will happen in the Senate as the House hashes out the debt limit bill fighting over issues such as whether taxes or spending cuts will be used.
» The flooding on the Missouri River continues and so does the brush/forest fire burning near Los Alamos nuclear weapons lab in New Mexico. The lab is no longer in danger and the latter day Doctor Strangloves who work there are already back at it designing and developing WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION.
» The FauxNews Politics Twitter account was hacked with the message that Obama had been shot and killed. The morons at FauxNews didn't bother looking at the account for a while so it sat there long enough to cause a bit of a stir and numerous retweets. The Secret Service is investigating.

But there IS this... in case you're wondering where all the treasury money went, and will continue to go, unless YOU 'make the change you wish to see':
A new report out of Brown University estimates that the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq--together with the counterinsurgency efforts in Pakistan--will, all told, cost $4 trillion and leave 225,000 dead, both civilians and soldiers.
The group of economists, anthropologists, lawyers, humanitarian personnel, and political scientists involved in the project estimated that the cost of caring for the veterans injured in the wars will reach $1 trillion in 30 or 40 years.
In estimating the $4 trillion total, they did not take into account the $5.3 billion in reconstruction spending the government has promised Afghanistan, state and local contributions to veteran care, interest payments on war debt, or the costs of Medicare for veterans when they reach 65.
The Congressional Budget Office, meanwhile, has assessed the federal price tag for the wars at $1.8 trillion through 2021.
The report says that is a gross underestimate, predicting that the government has already paid $2.3 trillion to $2.7 trillion... [In Full]
