» President Obama will go to the US-Mexican border today and speak in El Paso, Austin and to the Border Patrol at the border. The administration has shifted tactics and will begin putting the immigration law pressure on the employers.
» The flooding on the Mississippi River continues with a crest expected this afternoon. The high waters have caused all the creeks, stream and small rivers that feed it to back up and they have no levees or other flood protection. The weather and flooding has affected the planting of corn throughout the Midwest with only about 30% of the normal planting in the ground.
» The Pakistanis are saying they have no problem with a US interrogation of Osama bin-Laden's three wives but they aren't Pakistani. One is Yemeni and the other two are Saudis. The Pakistani government would just as soon repatriate them to their home countries and let the US talk with them about access to the women. The Pakistani government intends to bulldoze the site of the bin-Laden compound.
» US Navy chaplains will now be allowed to perform same sex marriages on bases in states that allow it. There IS resistance.
» California got the money for their fast rail from the federal government and have plans for a Central Valley line and one on the Pacific coast.
» Newt Gingrich intends to announce he will run for president on the Republican ticket in 2012.
» The last flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavor has been re-scheduled for next Monday.

Income Inequality In U.S. Worse Than Ivory Coast, Pakistan, Ethiopia
By Zaid Jilani
As ThinkProgress has repeatedly noted, crucial services and public investments for Main Street America are being gutted as taxes on the richest Americans are the lowest they've been in a generation. Yet many Americans may not know exactly how unfair this is, as the country has grown increasingly unequal at the same time.
Using data from the CIA Factbook based on the Gini coefficient a measure of income inequality within a society ThinkProgress has assembled the following graph, which demonstrates that the United States is now about as economically unequal as Uganda and more unequal than countries like Pakistan or the Ivory Coast. Geronimo's Name Used in bin Laden Operation an Insult to Indigenous ResistanceThere IS an active protest in progress...
The code name Geronimo , used during the US navy seals special operation that resulted in the reported death of Usama bin Laden, references the 19th-century Chiracahua Apache who spent his life fighting the encroachment of the states of Mexico and the US. into indigenous territory. [In Full]
Members of the Native American community have spoken out against the assignation of the name Geronimo to the operation to capture and kill Osama bin Laden. They’re asking users to change their Twitter and Facebook pictures to that of legendary Apache leader Geronimo as a form of protest and to honor him.

May 06 2011 Travus T. Hipp Morning News & Commentary: 'Terrorist' Lifestyles Exposed - Osama Planned The West's Demise While The Hashish Burned Slow

Thanks this morning to ChrisM, my MP3Angel, for supplying the news and commentary audio files.
» Osama bin-Laden, his three wives and and assortment of children had been sitting around a house for five or six years smoking Hash and making plans for attacks on the West... We now have all the notes. If you're fluent in Arabic or Pashtun the Western intel agencies want you. If not... Listen to the commentary for more and you MIGHT want to peruse my un-indicted co-conspirator Auntie Imperial's posting: "Osama Bin-Laden - Not The First In A Long History Of Pot-Smoking Terrorists" for some deeeeep history of drugs and terror.
» The president will be at Fort Campbell Kentucky today where he'll 'meet the troops' as well as meeting the SEAL team who killed Osama bin Laden... Due to security, no word on where or exactly when that meet is supposed to occur.
» The July deadline for the beginning of America's withdrawal from Afghanistan is approaching and protesters in the country are demonstrating in the streets claiming that 'president' Karzai's negotiations with the Talib are endangering the nation. Expect this story to be 'spun' as anti-Taliban protests by Western media but the demonstrations are more likely occurring because the protesters believe if Karzai continues negotiating with the Talib the US will continue it's presence there... If that is the protesters reasoning they ARE simply wrong... The United States will continue it's presence in some military form or another until it is actually driven out of the country by arms (or U.S. national bankruptcy). Just ask the Iraqis, where our "Withdrawal" has left 100,000 troops or so in-country plus countless mercenaries.
» In the wake of the killing of Osama bin-Laden there are reports that al-Qaeda planned attacks on the US railroad system for the tenth anniversary of 9/11. These alleged planned attacks have NOT necessarily been foiled by the CIA mercenary recruiter's death so expect major hassles, from the need to present current complete ID, to total body cavity searches if you set off the metal and explosive detectors because you forgot to take off your watch or have a spare firecracker in your pocket left over from the 4th of July.
» The Republicans are beginning to back off on their MediCare cuts position but Paul Ryan, the Republican Speaker of the House who proposed the draconian budget and got it passed says it's not true, and whined about the Town Hall meetings where he claims Republicans were harassed about their callousness toward Senior Citizens and the disabled. Tsk Tsk.
» Seven hundred miles of the Middle Mississippi River (Memphis Tn North) are beginning to flood with a peak expected next week. The high water mark will be close to 50 feet above flood level. A new record if it occurs, with the record peak flood stage having been set in 1937.
» The workers at the Fukushima EX-nuclear reactor in Japan have gained entry to the reactor area. First step... Cooling systems for the building and filtration to bring the radiation level down.
In OTHER News:
As reported a month or so ago at Cabale News Service... Fed up with Phoenix' hold over Arizona's politics, ethics and morals, Tucson (Pima County) talks secession from the late not-so-great-state of Arizona... It's been brewing for a century or so.
Just like India and various other governments informed the U.S. of the whereabouts of ANOTHER wanted EX-CIA asset (India offered to turn him over to the CIA because of their covert war with Pakistan and were told the CIA wasn't interested.), AQ Khan the Pakistani nuclear boogeyman known as the "Father of the Islamic Atomic Bomb", the intelligence and assistance we allegedly needed was ignored in our global "pursue and destroy" mission to capture ONE FORMER CIA MERCENARY RECRUITER.
Pakistan alerted US about compound in 2009: Bashir
Incidentally, in regard to who gave safety & support to whom, I've seen all kinds of reference to the money sewn into bin-Laden's clothing, but it's continually being referred to as "The equivalent of [enter the currency of the media's home country here]", and I've found no reference to the actual denomination of the currency.
It WOULD speak volumes about where he thought his 'escape hatch' exited, wouldn't it?
From CQ Behind The Lines... Some links to follow the money by: While Osama bin Laden's demise doesn't alter the threat, some experts say it's time, particularly amid a severe U.S. budget crunch, to determine if vast homeland security programs are bloated, redundant or unnecessary, McClatchy Newspapers' Greg Gordon and Marisa Taylor write. According to a new academic paper, the "... the increased cost of post-9/11 security measures can only be economically justified if we were certain that, absent those measures, one 9/11-style attack would succeed each year, The Economist adds and check CNN's Charles Riley, as well, on the bin Laden spending spree.
Meanwhile, the bin-Laden family survivors are being interviewed by Pakistani authorities who say the US WILL NOT get automatic access to the NON-Combatants.
An unexpected ray of intelligence from an American basketball player leads to a war of flames and threats over a series of twitter tweets. Basketball player Chris Douglas-Roberts' commented on Twitter about the bin-Laden assassination:
"Is this a celebration? Is this the beginning of a huge religious war? It took 919,967 deaths to kill that one guy. It took 10 years and two wars to kill that guy. It cost us (USA) roughly $1,188,263,000,000 to kill that guy. But we #winning though. Haaaa. (Sarcasm)." [More]This commenter must say Chris Douglas-Roberts is one cool cookie... from the linked article:
A follower of Douglas-Roberts responded, @CDOUGLASROBERTS of course it's a f------ celebration,moron....he killed nearly 3,000 AmericansAmen.
Douglas-Roberts replied, I'm the moron. Are you a Christian. Would God be happy with you celebrating death? Or is your religion, 'American'?
Last but certainly not least, a Libya Sitrep from Voltairenet who forward this:
Report to the Security Council by the Special Envoy to Libya
3 May 2011
Mr. Abdel-Elah Mohamed Al-Khatib: I thank the Security Council for this opportunity to brief it once again on the situation in Libya and on my continuous efforts to establish and maintain a dialogue with all sides concerned on implementing resolutions 1970 (2011) and 1973 (2011). Let me start by highlighting the latest significant developments in Libya.
Most recently, intense fighting has expanded into the south and west of the country. Heavy fighting has continued between pro-Al-Qadhafi troops and the opposition forces in the western region, the Western Mountains and Nalut district, including the cities of Yafran and Zintan, as well as in the south-eastern part of the country, including Kufra and Jalu.
Fighting has broken out in the Western Mountains. As a result, clashes spilled over into the eastern Tunisian city of Dehiba during attempts by pro-Al-Qadhafi and opposition forces to control the key border post on either side of the Libyan-Tunisian frontier, the Dehiba-Wazin border crossing. The Tunisian army has strengthened its positions on the southern border with Libya. Thousands of ethnic Berbers have fled from Libya into Tunisia. In the remote south-eastern corner of the country, the regime forces have allegedly advanced and seized control of the town of Kufra. Furthermore, pro-Al-Qadhafi forces stormed the oasis town of Jalu, south of Ajdabiya, on Sunday, 1 May... [In Full]

[After the commentary Promoe & The Looptroop Rockers want to tell you all about our global "KKKampain" for the American way. Remember... They AREN'T 'Wars' they're 'KKKampains' (some people gotta die it's a damn shame...)
...Courtesy of the respective artists.]
» Facebook is a "honeypot" gone viral - There is a SCAM going around FaceBook using the come-on of clicking a link to view a video of the killing of Osama bin-Laden. When you do you find out it's a rogue FB application that will request you take a survey, and by that time it's gotten your permission to AppSpam all your friends. REAL FaceBook users SHUN applications anyway but we thought you'd like to know. (personally, I warn 'friends' once, and if they're incapable of controlling their page's emissions of 'fishtank', or 'farmville', or 'garbagepailkids', or 'mafiawars' related spam posting, they are unfriended rapidly)
» The last item's problem is occurring because the White House has unequivocally decided IT WILL NOT release any images of the killing of Osama bin-Laden or his corpse. Pictures of dead Islamic fighters and their leaders have been a problem considering in the Muslim world it simply, and for good reason, inflames anti-Western sentiment, and the US already has enough hateful sentiments in regard to the sea burial of Osama, which it falsely and crassly claimed was in "Islamic Tradition"... Yeah... It IS... IF no other method is possible. In THIS case, they removed the corpse to an aircraft carrier hundreds of miles offshore... which WAS NOT a necessity, except for the Western 'necessity' of seeing to it that there is no Mosque built over his grave.
Regarding the killing of Osama bin-Laden a commenter at Juan Cole's Informed Comment, who will be repeated below in different context, had this to say about the SEAL Team's strategy and tactics:
So after NOT having shot a woman who was actually attacking them, an old man on dialysis who in his previous alleged videos was nearly incapable of movement threatened a team of heavily armed SEALS trained in martial arts and wearing body armor, and so they had to shoot an intelligence asset of incalculable value fatally instead of shooting him non-fatally» President Obama will be at Ground Zero today to lay a wreath and meet with the families of the attack's victims. Expect coverage of the wreath laying, but NOT the often contentious meetings with the families of the people who died in the attack.
Then they should be court martialed for incredible stupidity. (source)
» They're a slumlord too! The US government is going to sue DeutcheBank for one billion plus dollars for defrauding the government by bundling trash mortgages for FHA loans then after the investments failed the bank collected US government loan insurance.
» The Republicans will have their first pre-primary presidential debate and despite the fact there are 12 announce candidates only a few are expected to be there. Only FauxNews will broadcast it.
» The Republicans have also just introduced their fourth bill in the House... a tax on a medical procedure... Abortions.
In OTHER News:
» Libya... Remember? We're at war with Libya? Something about a UN resolution to protect civilians, which NATO immediately wiped it's foreign policy ass with even as some of the first people killed in NATO's air war WERE civilians... who came to the rescue of a downed NATO fighter pilot and were shot by a search and recovery crew?
Which leads to a pithy quote not quite on topic but leading back to it, from a commenter @ Juan Cole's Informed Comment taking him to task about his "Top Ten Myths about Bin Laden's Death""when you need somebody from the catholic church to tell you the truth, that's when you know shit has gone wrong." ~~Comment from a FaceBook 'friend'Vatican delegate in Libya criticizes Western bombing over civilian suffering
May 4, 2011
VATICAN CITY The Vatican's delegate in Tripoli is calling for a halt to NATO air strikes in Libya and for the West to negotiate with Moammar Gadhafi's government, insisting the Libyan leader doesn't oppose dialogue.
Monsignor Giovanni Martinelli, the Holy See's longtime apostolic vicar in Tripoli, said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday that he has drawn his inspiration from the pope's desire for peace.
Though Pope Benedict XVI has called for dialogue and diplomacy to prevail over warfare in the North African country, Martinelli, an Italian who was born in Libya in 1942, has gone much further by directly and repeatedly criticizing the NATO airstrikes aimed at helping rebels waging an uprising against Gadhafi's 42-year rule.
Martinelli also attended the recent funeral of Gadhafi's son after seeing the body in the morgue.
"I am speaking in the name of my conscience and in the name of my role as pastor and also in the name of the Gospels," Martinelli said.
The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, praised Martinelli as an authoritative voice on the situation in Libya who is tending as a pastor to his people under difficult circumstances. He said the Holy See in no way distances itself from his remarks. [Source]
So after NOT having shot a woman who was actually attacking them, an old man on dialysis who in his previous alleged videos was nearly incapable of movement threatened a team of heavily armed SEALS trained in martial arts and wearing body armor, and so they had to shoot an intelligence asset of incalculable value fatally instead of shooting him non-fatallyThe commenter then accuses Cole of censorship... Which Cole denies yet I experienced personally and recently with my attempts to debate his belief that the Libyan invasion is an unjustified and unwarranted entry point into a war in North Africa that has nothing to do with "Protecting Civilians"... not unexpected from a Neoliberal in the midst of a misguided codependency moment for CIA equipped Libyans.
Then they should be court martialed for incredible stupidity. (source)
Professor Alan J. Kuperman goes on to describe in some detail, information about the disinformation that Cole apparently believes:
"President Barack Obama grossly exaggerated the humanitarian threat to justify military action in Libya. The president claimed that intervention was necessary to prevent a bloodbath'' in Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city and last rebel stronghold. But Human Rights Watch has released data on Misurata, the next-biggest city in Libya and scene of protracted fighting, revealing that Moammar Khadafy is not deliberately massacring civilians but rather narrowly targeting the armed rebels who fight against his government. Misurata's population is roughly 400,000. In nearly two months of war, only 257 people including combatants have died there. Of the 949 wounded, only 22 less than 3 percent are women . Nor did Khadafy ever threaten civilian massacre in Benghazi, as Obama alleged. The no mercy'' warning, of March 17, targeted rebels only, as reported by The New York Times, which noted that Libya's leader promised amnesty for those who throw their weapons away.'' Khadafy even offered the rebels an escape route and open border to Egypt, to avoid a fight to the bitter end.'" [More @ The Boston Globe]Folks... You've been lied to and 'spun' into yet another worthless war.

» There are no reports out of Misrata Libya after the government was reported to have mined the harbor. If the Libyan government has taken the city they again control the Western part of the country.
» However there's LOTS of news about the killing of Osama bin-Laden from reports he was unarmed (with cash totaling 500 Euros and two telephone numbers sewn into his clothing when he was killed, No statement on WHO'S currency however.), to news that the US government has changed the story of the assault on his compound, to the allegation that no torture was used to find him (truly unlikely because it would discount any torture being used by government agents in the last four year of pursuit), to a poll showing that the citizens of the US believe that there WILL BE "blowback" but the killing of bin Laden "...has raised confidence in the ability of U.S. to win."
» Congress will hold hearings on whether or not the killing of Osama bin-Laden was a game changer allowing the US to get out of Afghanistan completely, and perhaps change our military's relationship and strategy in regard to the "War On Terror". MUCH more on "What to do" in today's commentary.
» Do you suppose the Buddhist governor did it on purpose? The Death Penalty is 'off the table' for at least the rest of the year in California as governor Jerry Brown cancels the new execution chamber project which was going to use new chemicals and procedures AFTER San Quentin's warden had let go his previously trained executioners who knew the procedure for the chamber that is in place. More.
» The Arctic Ocean is warming and the Ice Sheet is disintegrating according to an Expert Working Group which claims the temperatures have been up for the last 6 years, the highest on record as a matter of fact, leaving the ice thin and there is open water all the way up to the Pole. There is "Feedback Effect" meaning as more ground gets exposed there's less reflectivity and more heat absorption leading to more earth being exposed leading to more warming... The 'Snowball Effect' as it were. More, including a link to the study from the Barents Observer.
» It's just as well... George W. Bush will not attend tomorrow's "Ground Zero" ceremony to reflect on the death of Osama Bin-laden.
In OTHER News:
Never forget They shoot White middle class young people too (but unlike the killing of people of color in ghettos around America at the time, they claimed to regret it).
The "Days of Rage" promised by the Weatherman faction of SDS at Chicago became years of major disturbances on campuses large and small throughout the US and the rest of America.
The rallying cry was...
Bring the war HOME!
An overview of the events leading up to that day is here.
This... from that:
Perhaps most importantly, the statement signed by members of the Ohio National Guard was viewed by them to be a declaration of regret, not an apology or an admission of wrongdoing:» In America one has to read the British news to find out about the death of an American Neo-Fascist.
In retrospect, the tragedy of May 4, 1970 should not have occurred. The students may have believed that they were right in continuing their mass protest in response to the Cambodian invasion, even though this protest followed the posting and reading by the university of an order to ban rallies and an order to disperse. These orders have since been determined by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals to have been lawful.
Some of the Guardsmen on Blanket Hill, fearful and anxious from prior events, may have believed in their own minds that their lives were in danger. Hindsight suggests that another method would have resolved the confrontation. Better ways must be found to deal with such a confrontation.
We devoutly wish that a means had been found to avoid the May 4th events culminating in the Guard shootings and the irreversible deaths and injuries. We deeply regret those events and are profoundly saddened by the deaths of four students and the wounding of nine others which resulted. We hope that the agreement to end the litigation will help to assuage the tragic memories regarding that sad day.
He said:
"You guys get your Glocks cocked and get ready to rock."This little "Cock" got "Glocked" instead. Live by the gun... die by it. Buh-Bye Jeff Hall... It's sad that your child did such a thing, but you will not be missed and the world WILL BE a better place for it.
White supremacist leader 'shot dead at home by his young son'
By Daily Mail Reporter
2 May 2011
The young son of a white supremacist leader has been detained after his father was found shot dead at their home.
Jeff Hall, 32, a regional director for the National Socialist Movement, was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning by a 'known assailant' at his house in Riverside, California.
Police removed two handguns from the property and questioned one of his five children, believed to be a ten-year-old boy.
They have not yet ruled out the possibility that the shooting was deliberate.
o
o
o
A New York Times reporter attended a meeting of the local group at his home the night before he was killed, where Mr Hall called on members to join him for militia-style raids for illegal immigrants along the Mexico-Arizona border.
He said: 'This is a very active area right now. You guys get your Glocks cocked and get ready to rock. We're going to the border. That's how we do it.' [More @ Dail Mail [UK]]

» The Osama bin Laden assassination has begun to generate background stories of all sorts in the media including the hot button issue... deterioration of relations between the US and Pakistan, considering that the most wanted man on the planet had been living in a multi-million dollar mansion in a country where there just aren't that many 'multi-million dollar mansions' and no one took note of who lived there. Details will be forthcoming over the next few days and there IS an current Osama video that has not been released... expect it's showing, and expect to see him teaching 'Islam according to Osama', not taunting the West.
Until then, a Quote of the Day:
Bin Laden being dead means nothing. He's just another dead Muslim of the 1 million-plus that the US has killed in the past decade. The US gov't has created millions of Muslims that rightfully hate the US, many with a white-hot passion. The military-industrial complex has succeeded in creating a new enemy to replace "communism".More along that line of thought in this interview with veteran reporter Robert Fisk:
2 May, 2011 3:02PM AESTMeanwhile, we continue to make enemies in the Islamic world: "Islamic scholars criticize bin Laden's sea burial". Funny... The radio station that reported that the other night (KGO) said the burial-at-sea was "...in Islamic tradition". The burial WILL keep anyone from building a Mosque over his grave. However it WILL NOT prevent his martyrdom.
Death of Osama Bin Laden 'pretty irrelevant': Robert Fisk
There is a lot of meaningless breast beating about a 'middle aged man being killed in Pakistan ', says reporter Robert Fisk.
Veteran journalist Robert Fisk, who interviewed Osama Bin Laden on three occasions, says news of Bin Laden's death is much less important than the popular uprisings happening in the Arab world. "I've been saying for some time that I think whether he's dead or not is pretty irrelevent," says the Middle East correspondent for British newspaper The Independent. "As far as he's concerned he founded Al Qaeda and that was in his eyes his achievement." The award winning journalist says Osama Bin Laden was not in a position to actually direct Al Qaeda's operations. "He didn't sit in a cave with computer knobs saying press button b, it's operation 52," says Robert Fisk. [In Full]

» I guess they'll just have to start growing their own food in the the cities - There is severe flooding on the upper Mississippi River. Cairo Illinois has been saved when the government blew a levee upstream allowing it to flood into 130,000 acres of prime farmland... which will probably never be the same, and destroyed 100 or so homes. Expect lawsuits to fly.
WYATT, Mo. — After a few short explosions and flashes of orange light, the Mississippi River began pouring through a wide hole in a giant earthen levee intentionally blown open by Army engineers trying to save a small Illinois town.
The Army Corps of Engineers set off charges inside the levee near Cairo, Ill., after nightfall Monday, sacrificing 130,000 acres of rich farmland and about 100 homes in Missouri to spare the community of 2,800.

The explosions blew a two-mile gap in the levee, sending a great torrent of muddy water into the farm country below. By Tuesday morning, the water had risen to the top of some houses. A tiny village called Pin Hook was completely flooded.
From the air, the vast flooded area resembled a shiny lake, reflecting the sky like an enormous mirror.
Farmers and nearby residents of gathered to survey the scene shortly after dawn. A small cluster of cattle stood grazing on the slope of the levee, and National Guard soldiers patrolled the area.
Billy and Tammy Suggs, who live in the neighboring community of Wyatt, opened the village's tiny town hall so people would have a place to gather when the blast occurred. It was a lot stronger than they expected, knocking out windows in several homes...

» Recently, Travus had this to say about "The Don": April 21 2011 Travus T. Hipp Morning News & Commentary: How Representative! Donald Trump... An Intellectual Moral And Ethical Cipher For Republican Stalking Horse.
Actually, his words were much harsher and included such pithy expressions as "Dirtbag".
Yours truly has a personal historical perspective:
In 1968 I was living in one of his daddy Fred's housing projects in Brooklyn. It consisted of thirty one buildings on marsh land reclaimed by the city and sold to Fred Trump to build housing... Housing people like my mom, a public school teacher, could afford.
The housing project (Beach Haven, a couple of miles from Coney Island) came complete with an army of janitors and handymen who fanned out through the acres of housing every day cleaning and repairing. There was a kiddie park for every quad of buildings. Trump turned one of the under-building garages into a youth center complete with boxing ring (can't imagine anyone would foot for THAT insurance nowadays) and league softball, roller hockey, and more.
The Helmsleys may have ruled the commercial housing market in New York, but Fred Trump pretty much built housing for people... ordinary people.
Sonny boy Donald must have spent the fortune his dad made three times over on limos, blonde bimbos, and Atlantic City casinos. Who was it that said "Capitalism is bound to fail because the kids blow all the parent's money"?
Donald Trump is living proof of that, and has ZERO credentials for a run at the presidency... but then it's hard to believe he really intends to spend incredible amounts of his own money on that... There are STILL "blonde bimbos".
BTW, I DO NOT mean to demean "Blonde Bimbos" in any way. The only object of derision in the above screed is Donald Trump. I mean, after all what would Rock & Roll be without those charming blonde women... Then compare that to where we would be without "The Don".
His insignificance in American culture and society is profound... as profound as the disturbing thought that there are morons who would vote for a putz (Yiddish, wasted sperm on the ground) like him.

May 02 2011 Travus T. Hipp Morning News & Commentary: Osama bin-Laden - Fifteen Years Of Warfare And All We Won Was A Battle NOT The War

Due to time constraints no synopsis this morning... Listen in.
However yours truly does have a statement in regard to the commentary and a couple of items that are apropos gleaned over the weekend.
In regard to the death of Osama bin-Laden:
Does this mean that all our troops in the region will begin returning immediately?
FUCK NO.
Nor will the drone strike in Pakistan's backwoods come to an end... Nor will the illegal invasion of Libya under a UN resolution to protect civilians we immediately wiped our 'foreign policy asses' with before we had even killed the first civilians... a family who had come to the assistance of a downed pilot whom the search and recovery team 'mistook' for Libyan soldiers (?!?).
Due to our actions around the world over the last decade there are people who now have REAL, RATIONAL reasons to be righteously angry at us. Murderously angry. The Iraq War "Playing Card" trope, with it's pictures of the Iraqi regime members comes to mind here. "Playing Cards" are, and have always been, the wrong metaphor. BASEBALL CARDS are a more correct comparison. Some retire... some get... injured, but there are ALWAYS new 'players'.
We're GOOD at making deadly enemies. Number #1 with a BULLET! There WILL BE more.
In this case, we've undoubtedly created thousands of "New Players"... perhaps tens of thousands, in the pursuit of one former CIA mercenary with a long history of distinguished service for the US, the CIA, and NATO in our proxy war on Russia in Afghanistan and later in our dirty wars on former Yugoslavia where he did yeoman's duty as a recruiter for the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The question remains... What 'turned' Osama bin-Laden and his soldiers?
How did he come to allegedly plan the attack on his former cash cow... The people involved in planning Western wars on Central and South Asia and convince his followers to no longer pursue hard Western cash? Was it REALLY his disgust with the permanent presence of Western troops in Saudi Arabia... a country and regime he apparently despised as much as the US government albeit home to the holiest place in Islamic tradition... Mecca. A place that the Saudis maintain police state-like control over?
It IS a reasonable possibility considering that ALL people of the Islamic faith must partake of a pilgrimage to Mecca to fulfill their religious duties ... but you can't just 'wander in from the desert' anymore.
In order to be a 'good Muslim', you HAVE TO take a 'guided' trip to Mecca, arriving with others from the same group, from the same country, with a specially trained guide, and EVERY PILGRIM ENTERING THE COUNTRY IS IRIS SCANNED.
The following image is taken from SaudiAramco's house journal... The article is entitled "Welcoming God's Guests", and what a warm welcome it is!

For all intents and purposes this means if you are an enemy of the Saudi government, you can never be a 'good Muslim'.
You'd think the Muslim fundamentalists have a problem with that... and you'd be correct.
Did he do it because of US double dealings... tacit and overt support internal and external for Saudi policies... Or was it something else?
Food for thought.
On the topic of our ongoing wars...
On Friday, yours truly featured the statement by the Afghanistan "Leadership Council of the Islamic Emirate" regarding the beginning of their spring miltary operations stating that Afghan nationals who work for or profit from the Afghan/American government should make a note that they are being targeted as "Quislings".
The Special Representative and Chief of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Staffan de Mistura responded by stating he urged:
"...all parties involved in the conflict to restrain from causing any harm to civilians..."In response (and in its full 'short and sweet'-ness)...

Remarks of Zabihullah Mujahid regarding Staffan de Mistura's comments
Zabihullah Mujahid, Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
May 1, 2011
The UN chief in Afghanistan, Staffan de Mistura, in response to the declaration of the Spring Offensive by Islamic Emirate, issued a statement yesterday in which he urged all parties involved in the conflict to restrain from causing any harm to civilians in their operations. I, as a representative of Islamic Emirate, back every move which protects the lives and property of civilians and would like to once again make clear the stance of Islamic Emirate regarding this issue:
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has always pressed its Mujahideen to take every possible measure in their operations so to avoid causing any harm or casualties to civilians and has repeatedly pointed to this very important issue. We made our position clear on this matter in the fourth guideline of the statement issued yesterday about our Spring Offensive in the entire country, which is as follows:(4. Strict attention must be paid to the protection and safety of civilians during the spring operations by working out a meticulous military plan. Utilizing all proven military tactics, the operations will focus on usage of advanced weapons against the air and ground forces of the invaders, tip-and-run attacks, and group offensives, city attacks, advanced explosives attacks, effective group and martyrdom seeking attacks by warrior Mujahideen.)The above standard is a part of our war tactic in which strong importance has been given to the protection of civilian lives.
On the other hand we urge Mr. Mistura to gravely advocate to all foreign invaders in our country to refrain from attacking civilians, their national and Islamic values and from night raids, which always result in death and injury to women, children and innocent citizens. This point should be sternly pressed to block their way of deliberate targeting and harassment of civilians so that the crimes of the NATO forces is not concealed or pardoned in your future statements while wrongly leveling the blame on Mujahideen. Such propaganda and biased reporting only encourages the invading forces to increase their transgressions which in turn damages the image of UN.

From The Center for a Stateless Society... burrowing from within:
"...a project of the Molinari Institute and dedicated to building public awareness of, and support for, market anarchism. We provide news commentary, related analysis and original research from our unique perspective, serving as a market anarchist media center.""History, since the agricultural revolution, can be usefully conceptualized as an offensive-defensive arms race between technologies of abundance and social structures of expropriation.
Until the appearance of agriculture, human society didn't produce a large enough surplus to support much in the way of social organization above the hunter-gatherer group. Agriculture was the first technology of abundance sufficiently productive to support parasitic classes on a large scale. With agriculture came a superstructure of kings, priests, martial castes and landlords who milked the producing classes like cattle.
We now seem to be nearing the end of an interval of ten thousand years or so between two thresholds. The first threshold was the appearance of the first large-scale technology of abundance agriculture.
Since then we have been in that aforementioned arms race.
Sometimes technologies of abundance produce an increase in the social surplus faster than the class superstructure can expropriate it, and things become better for the ordinary person as in the late Middle Ages, when the horse collar and crop rotation caused a massive increase in agricultural productivity, the craftsmen of the free towns developed new production technologies, and the decay of feudalism resulted in falling rents and de facto emancipation of large sectors of the peasantry.
Sometimes the advantage shifts to the social structures of expropriation, and things get worse as in the case of the absolute monarchies' suppression of the free towns, what Immanuel Wallerstein called the long sixteenth century, and the Enclosures.
We're approaching the second threshold, when the technologies of abundance reach a takeoff point beyond which the social structures of expropriation can no longer keep up with the rising production curve..." [There IS a positive side... Read on.]
