» Facebook is a "honeypot" gone viral - There is a SCAM going around FaceBook using the come-on of clicking a link to view a video of the killing of Osama bin-Laden. When you do you find out it's a rogue FB application that will request you take a survey, and by that time it's gotten your permission to AppSpam all your friends. REAL FaceBook users SHUN applications anyway but we thought you'd like to know. (personally, I warn 'friends' once, and if they're incapable of controlling their page's emissions of 'fishtank', or 'farmville', or 'garbagepailkids', or 'mafiawars' related spam posting, they are unfriended rapidly)
» The last item's problem is occurring because the White House has unequivocally decided IT WILL NOT release any images of the killing of Osama bin-Laden or his corpse. Pictures of dead Islamic fighters and their leaders have been a problem considering in the Muslim world it simply, and for good reason, inflames anti-Western sentiment, and the US already has enough hateful sentiments in regard to the sea burial of Osama, which it falsely and crassly claimed was in "Islamic Tradition"... Yeah... It IS... IF no other method is possible. In THIS case, they removed the corpse to an aircraft carrier hundreds of miles offshore... which WAS NOT a necessity, except for the Western 'necessity' of seeing to it that there is no Mosque built over his grave.
Regarding the killing of Osama bin-Laden a commenter at Juan Cole's Informed Comment, who will be repeated below in different context, had this to say about the SEAL Team's strategy and tactics:
So after NOT having shot a woman who was actually attacking them, an old man on dialysis who in his previous alleged videos was nearly incapable of movement threatened a team of heavily armed SEALS trained in martial arts and wearing body armor, and so they had to shoot an intelligence asset of incalculable value fatally instead of shooting him non-fatally» President Obama will be at Ground Zero today to lay a wreath and meet with the families of the attack's victims. Expect coverage of the wreath laying, but NOT the often contentious meetings with the families of the people who died in the attack.
Then they should be court martialed for incredible stupidity. (source)

VATICAN CITY The Vatican's delegate in Tripoli is calling for a halt to NATO air strikes in Libya and for the West to negotiate with Moammar Gadhafi's government, insisting the Libyan leader doesn't oppose dialogue.
Monsignor Giovanni Martinelli, the Holy See's longtime apostolic vicar in Tripoli, said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday that he has drawn his inspiration from the pope's desire for peace.
Though Pope Benedict XVI has called for dialogue and diplomacy to prevail over warfare in the North African country, Martinelli, an Italian who was born in Libya in 1942, has gone much further by directly and repeatedly criticizing the NATO airstrikes aimed at helping rebels waging an uprising against Gadhafi's 42-year rule.
Martinelli also attended the recent funeral of Gadhafi's son after seeing the body in the morgue.
"I am speaking in the name of my conscience and in the name of my role as pastor and also in the name of the Gospels," Martinelli said.
The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, praised Martinelli as an authoritative voice on the situation in Libya who is tending as a pastor to his people under difficult circumstances. He said the Holy See in no way distances itself from his remarks. [Source]

Which Cole denies yet I experienced personally and recently with my attempts to debate his belief that the Libyan invasion is an unjustified and unwarranted entry point into a war in North Africa that has nothing to do with "Protecting Civilians"... not unexpected from a Neoliberal in the midst of a misguided codependency moment for CIA equipped Libyans.

Professor Alan J. Kuperman goes on to describe in some detail, information about the disinformation that Cole apparently believes:
"President Barack Obama grossly exaggerated the humanitarian threat to justify military action in Libya. The president claimed that intervention was necessary to prevent a bloodbath'' in Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city and last rebel stronghold. But Human Rights Watch has released data on Misurata, the next-biggest city in Libya and scene of protracted fighting, revealing that Moammar Khadafy is not deliberately massacring civilians but rather narrowly targeting the armed rebels who fight against his government. Misurata's population is roughly 400,000. In nearly two months of war, only 257 people including combatants have died there. Of the 949 wounded, only 22 less than 3 percent are women . Nor did Khadafy ever threaten civilian massacre in Benghazi, as Obama alleged. The no mercy'' warning, of March 17, targeted rebels only, as reported by The New York Times, which noted that Libya's leader promised amnesty for those who throw their weapons away.'' Khadafy even offered the rebels an escape route and open border to Egypt, to avoid a fight to the bitter end.'" [More @ The Boston Globe]Folks...
