«o» #OccupyOakland's call for a General Strike to shut down the Port of Oakland was successful yesterday with twenty to twenty five thousand people in the streets, and in retaliation the Oakland police are currently trying to rout the protesters from the plaza downtown. The 'troubles' started last night during a celebratory party, and to the best of my knowledge continue as of right now with the potential for a protester attempted #Occupation of one of the bridges into the city. The protests have cost well over a million dollars and the city is going to have to try to collect taxes from the same people they attacked.
o LOCALLY, it was noted by the legal committee at the Santa Cruz General Assembly yesterday evening that The SCPD have given #OccupySantaCruz a 3-4 day ‘grace’ period before they do whatever is necessary to serve and protect the businesses of Santa Cruz and the cronies at the city council who pander to them.
Are we STILL looking for a ‘resolution of support’ from them?
Who exactly authorized that sickening idea anyway?
«o» President Obama is in Cannes France for a meeting of the G20 nations with the focus on Greece whose government just decided, in true democratic fashion, to have a national referendum on December 4th deciding whether to go along with their government's austerity plan, or just let the Greek economy 'collapse'. The international lending agencies and banks have frozen lending to the nation until then and protests are in progress near the G20 venue.
«o» Peace breaks out as soon as the money's behind it - Russia and Georgia have made a deal over South Ossetia and the Russian will pull their troops and APCs. The reason for the deal? To allow Russia over-ride protests in regard to joining the International Monetary Fund.
«o» The Herman Cain sexual harassment scandal continues to dog the only person who seems able to garner any number of straw poll or debate votes for the Republicans, with another woman now saying she was harassed and the Cain campaign blaming the whole thing on Rick Perry's campaign people.
