» Ten years ago today U.S. and British forces moved on the Taliban government of Afghanistan because they were "...not protecting the security of the Afghan people.". Ten thousand or so Afghans and about eighteen hundred US troops later we've gotten absolutely nowhere but we're still there... More, and MUCH More in the commentary
» Is there a book somewhere I can look this up in? (I have a couple of other high profile candidates in mind...) - The person claimed to be responsible for the attack on the USS Cole, Abd al Rahim al Nashiri [wikipedia], will finally be given a Guantanamo Concentration Camp trial. The charge: "Murder in violation of the rules of war". The "War Court Judge" has delayed the case until November 09.
» The Feds are coming! In the wake of last week's test raid at an Oakland California medical marijuana dispensary, today at eleven am, the Federal agent-in-charge in Sacramento will announce a campaign to close California's medical marijuana dispensaries and prosecute the operators. Probably for failure to pay federal taxes. Which WILL be interesting because the Original Gangsta of Marijuana laws, the Marihuana Tax Stamp Act of 1937 was voided quite a few years ago. There IS NO federal tax on Marijuana to the best of my knowledge.

» The US census has come up with the disturbing statistic that homeownership in the US has fallen to it's lowest level since 1940, in the aftermath of the Great Depression when the US experienced a recession from 1937–1938.Personally yours truly thinks any attempt to 'legalize' or 'decriminalize' pot growing, it's possession or use, just reinforces the government's, ANY government's delusion that they have any right to legislate on it at all.
