The ability of the US government to act in a prompt manner has recently been called into question, but when it comes to spy swaps... The Russian "Suburbanite Spy Ring" has been wrapped up, a deal worked out where they all pled guilty to one count of "failing to register as an agent of a foreign government" with time served, and they were immediately deported via chartered US airliner to Vienna where the Russian government picked them up and took them 'home'.
Norway, in conjunction with US intelligence agencies, has arrested a number of Yemenis and others who were apparently a cell for the Pakistani Talib planning European and US attacks.
A three judge federal Appeals Court panel, all having represented the oil companies or having worked for them (as had the original judge), have overturned the Gulf of Mexico offshore drilling moratorium.
Meanwhile, an Inter-Press Service reporter, and the media in general was refused access to a Seabird rescue facility, specifically the "Oiled Wildlife Rehabilitation Center", Fort Jackson, Louisiana.
A Federal District Court judge in Massachusetts has ruled that the federal "Defense of Marriage Act" violates the 10th amendment... In other words, marriage is an act of law reserved for the states. There WILL UNDOUBTEDLY be an appeal.
