There's GOLD in them thar hills... of Afghanistan - It wasn't really a secret, at least as far as the rumor-mill goes, but according to Pentagon experts and geologists Afghanistan is home to A TRILLION DOLLARS in Gold, Silver, Cadmium, Copper, Iron, Lithium. The Chinese are already operating in the country mining gold, and they hire... wait for it... Blackwater/Xe for security services. Now you know why we're in Afghanistan, and it IS NOT because of 9/11, Osama bin-Laden or the Taliban's vague connections to him. It's to loot the region's extractive resources.
The CIA World 'Factbook' (if you believe the CIA deals in "Facts") recently listed Afghanistan's natural resources:
natural gas, petroleum, coal, copper, chromite, talc, barites, sulfur, lead, zinc, iron ore, salt, precious and semiprecious stones [src]
Sanctions on Iran 'trickle down' - The newly imposed UN sanctions against Iran give foreign powers the right to check ship cargo into and out of Iran even as the next Gaza blockade breaking fleet sails from Tehran.
Perhaps the Saudis are feeling a threat to their control of OPEC - One of the reasons Israel hasn't attacked Iran over their non-existent nuclear weapons program is because it necessitates US permission to fly over Iraq's airspace. Saudi Arabia just resolved that by allowing Israeli military aircraft fly-over privileges, putting the planet one step closer to Nuclear war... A ONE-SIDED nuclear war considering that there is no credible evidence whatsoever that Iran, the country to be attacked, possesses anything even remotely resembling a nuclear weapon, but Israel sure does. Perhaps the Saudis are feeling a threat to their control of OPEC from Iran, or Iran in conjunction with other regional oil producers, and would be OK with the destruction of Iran's economic infrastructure. Iran is the industrial economic powerhouse in the region and an attack would surely throw the entire region into economic turmoil.
President Obama will be slipping along the Gulf Coast again answering questions from citizens and speaking with leaders throughout the region. He's better be "slick".
In Kyrgyzstan, the newly minted government has been overthrown and the Uzbeks are being forced out of the country. The BIG question? Who's going to control the route through Kyrgyzstan being built to supply Americas extractive resource Imperial War on Afghanistan.
