There were some pretty odd results in the US national election primaries yesterday. Out of the 6 races where the Tea Party ran candidates two won. In California things went as predicted with Meg Ryan Vs Jerry Brown as the Gubernatorial choices. Whitman paid $80 per primary vote. More California and national results.
A SECOND BP oil rig is leaking into the Gulf of Mexico... The Ocean Saratoga. The Ocean Saratoga rig was built in 1976 and has been one of the rigs with ongoing leakage problems since 2004 operated by Taylor Energy. There may be a series of these platforms with problems even as BP claims to be capturing 1/2 of the current spillage from the Deepwater Horizon. The 'thumbnail'... A Pelican, exhausted from trying to navigate in oil soaked feathers in oil sogged Gulf waters.
One more thing... Yours truly just watched a short discussion (3:26 minutes) of "Why we feel competitive behavior and conspicuous consumption to be success-oriented". It's an important question, for human survival, from Nate Hagens of the Post Carbon Institute, and Adbusters, the journal of the mental environment.
