In The News: The Attorney General of Mexico has been removed and replaced and no one knows why. "(President) Calderon told reporters that Attorney General Eduardo Medina Mora had resigned and would be replaced by a little-known former law enforcement official. Calderon gave no details about the motive for the move.". But for a start, 13,000 people have died since the beginning of the current offensive on the Mexican drug cartels and there's been no letup in the smuggling, or the mayhem.

Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez appeared at the Venice Film Festival as a movie about the Venezuelan revolution directed by Oliver Stone is screened. He wowwed the 'red carpet' crowd.
