March 16 2012 Travus T. Hipp Morning News & Commentary: The American 'Salad Bowl' & The Celebration Of Barely-Observed-In-The-Homeland 'Ethnic Holidays'
H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files. «o»The Republican Missouri caucus is coming up on Saturday and the Illinois event happens next Tuesday. Meanwhile Rick Santorum is in Puerto Rico where he's pitching for their votes and told an audience in regard to Puerto Rican statehood that they'd have to pass an English test! He seems to have forgotten that Puerto Ricans are American citizens despite the fact he was stumping for their votes, and what he claims has no basis in federal or constitutional law. Good thing he was only talking to the territory's Republicans. They don't care about those silly things.
«o»The pressure for a diplomatic solution to Iran's nuclear program have picked up with the Saudis pledging to take up the slack if the Western oil embargo and sanctions affect the West's oil supply. However if the Iranians make good on their promise to close the Straits of Hormuz India, China and Japan would be more than willing to purchase the Iranian oil so the boycott probably won't have any substantial effect except to fill the authoritarian Saudi's treasury. FWIW, the Iranians control the Straits under international law and they can close it if they want to, so any war made as a result of that closure would be an outlaw war... as if the nations who would fight that war on Iran care.
«o»Fourteen Turkish troops have been killed by an IED outside of Kabul Afghanistan where they are 'working in a support role' and a preliminary Afghan parliamentary investigation has concluded that there was more than one person involved in the massacre of those Afghani civilians last week. More on that here.
