It's increasingly obvious that the war on Al Qaeda is in Yemen, and Somalia (see Below). Both Dubai and London discover explosive devices on cargo aircraft that were active and powerful enough to seriously damage the aircraft they were shipped on or the Synagogue that's gay friendly in Chicago they were addressed to. The Yemeni authorities swooped on a female law student (So much for 'suppressed Muslim women'... a female law student in an Islamic country!) who apparently had her identity stolen and the girl's mother. They were released after being held for 24 hours. The forensics on the bomb allegedly point to the person who put the 'poop' in the "underwear bomber's" drawers. The US is sending in special ops teams to find him (really... They're already there) considering the Yemeni government doesn't control the country outside it's capital for even one mile... Just like Somalia.
About Somalia... The OTHER "al Qaeda" stronghold...
The West tries desperately to maintain it's grip on this extractive resource 'Gold Mine'(sic) and "Elects" a Westernized Somali to lead the country:
MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia's parliament on Sunday approved a Somali-American as the country's prime minister, but some are already questioning whether he will be able to make a difference in the war-ravaged country under attack from al-Qaida-linked militants.
Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, who has taught at a community college in western New York, is now expected to name a Cabinet in the coming weeks.
The Somali government currently controls only a small part of the capital, Mogadishu. It has accomplished little since its inception in 2004 and the country hasn't had a fully functioning government in nearly two decades.
"Somalia is not America," Amina Nur, a mother of seven children, told The Associated Press referring to Mohamed's time spent in the U.S.
"Like many overseas Somalis that came from Western countries after the collapse of the government in 1991 and are now parliamentarians and government officials, he doesn't know the difficult situation of the country and cannot lead an effective Cabinet in the terms of the setting a comprehensive security plan to combat al-Shabab and terrorists," Nur said.
Mohamed was nominated on Oct. 14 by President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed but the vote on the nomination was delayed several times because of a disagreement between the president and the speaker over procedure. The president wanted lawmakers to vote by a show of hands, while the speaker preferred a secret ballot.
Lawmakers voted by a show of hands 297-92 on Sunday in favor of Mohamed, said Sharif Hassan Sheik Aden, speaker of the transitional parliament.
Mohamed worked in the Somali Embassy in Washington from 1985 to 1988, according to the government's website. He has taught conflict resolution and leadership skills at Erie Community College in western New York and has a master's degree in political science from the State University of New York at Buffalo, according to his resume... Imagine that... getting prison time for fighting in a war as a soldier. An al Qaeda fighter who was captured at 15 years old when he tossed a hand grenade at US troops and housed at Guantanamo Concentration Camp By The Caribbean ever since has been sentenced to 40 years, with a reduction to eight years. Whether he will also get 'time served' on the seven years already spent incarcerated is unknown.
It's the last day of campaigning before the mid-term US elections and the Democrats are girding themselves for Republican polling suppression teams AKA "Poll Watchers"
Brazil has elected it's first woman president whose politics follows in the tenor of the 'termed out' Lula da Silva. Dilma Rousseff won over José Serra, the former governor of São Paulo, with 56% of the vote.

Lancet Study: Alcohol 'harms more than heroin'
Alcohol is more harmful than heroin or crack, according to a study published in medical journal the Lancet.
The report is co-authored by Professor David Nutt, the former UK chief drugs adviser who was sacked by the government in October 2009.
It ranks 20 drugs on 16 measures of harm to users and to wider society.
Gavin Partington, of the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, said alcohol abuse affected "a minority" who needed "education, treatment and enforcement".
The study also said tobacco and cocaine are judged to be equally harmful, while ecstasy and LSD are among the least damaging.
Prof Nutt refused to leave the drugs debate when he was sacked from his official post by the former Labour Home Secretary, Alan Johnson. He went on to form the Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs, a body which aims to investigate the drug issue without any political interference.
One of its other members is Dr Les King, another former government adviser who quit over Prof Nutt's treatment.
Members of the group, joined by two other experts, scored each drug for harms including mental and physical damage, addiction, crime and costs to the economy and communities... In Full w/Graphics

It was and still is a plutocracy. Although they did grant some citizens a sham, symbolic vote, they made sure that the popular vote was not the final say and could be disregarded by the Electoral College, Congress, or the Supreme Court. Fearing "too much democracy," they did not allow any." source
