» They could never have done it without us... The Libyan Rebels now control large parts of Tripoli including the Green Square thanks to the assistance of NATO air support and US surveillance drones. The rebels have two of Muammar al-Gadffi's sons and one of his daughters held as POWs or hostages... bargaining chips, because the fighting IS NOT over.

It's very important to note that the Libyan army DID NOT fire on the civilians from the suburbs who marched into Tripoli en masse, but THEY WILL potentially form a 5th column that will continue fighting for any number of years to follow. So don't expect the "Color Revolution", expect Algeria... 1960. There will be hundreds of billions of dollars in oil revenues and money released by the west to the US backed regime, and what is bound to happen is either the government will loot it, or redistribute it... expect fighting among the clans and tribes, as well as attacks on the 'government'. But you won't read about that in the Western media.

Check the photo (click the image for enlargement) of the CIA-fronted Libyan 'rebels' inspecting the body of a dead... They claim he's a Libyan army soldier, but he sure looks like a tribal Bedouin. As I've said before this is a war on the tribal groups of Libya (90% of the population) by the 10% industrialized westernized with cellies and laptops.

Further, the Russians want to know "Just what exactly do you think you are doing in Libya?"
Open Letter to NATO Commanders and Political Leaders

Just what exactly do you think you are doing in Libya? Did anyone elect you? Did you heed the Libyan Government's call for a democratic election? Since when is attacking civilians with US Apache helicopters in your Rules of Engagement? [In Full, Pravda]
» An Iranian court has sentenced the two UC Berkeley hikers who wandered over the border into the country to eight years in prison. Three for illegal entry, and five for spying. There is an appeals process that will come into play now or perhaps they'll be released at the end of Ramadan, as it's traditional to show forgiveness at that time. It's also notable the Western media knew of the verdict before their lawyers further reinforcing the belief that the sentencing was just a face-saving measure for the Iranian government, and the release will happen in the 'background'.

» New York chooses not to pick on one of the richest men in the world... The New York City District Attorney is expected to announce he will be dropping the charges filed against Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former head of the IMF and potential French presidential candidate, for allegedly raping a maid at an upscale New York city hotel. The woman is still insisting she was raped and is demanding a special prosecutor, but the charges will most likely end up in civil court instead. He's under civil charges in France for a similar incident.

» The pre-season game between the San Francisco Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers turned into a spectator free-for-all brawl with fighting in the stands throughout the game, a beating in the bathroom (hospitalizing the victim), and two people shot in the parking lot.

In OTHER News:
The Obama administration repeatedly says that US forces are "on track" to vacate Iraq by the end of 2011, in keeping with candidate Barack Obama's pledge to "end the war in Iraq.
In October 2007, Obama proclaimed, “I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank.” Speaking of Iraq in February 2008, candidate Barack Obama said, “I opposed this war in 2002. I will bring this war to an end in 2009. It is time to bring our troops home.” The following month, under fire from Hillary Clinton, he reiterated, “I was opposed to this war in 2002….I have been against it in 2002, 2003, 2004, 5, 6, 7, 8 and I will bring this war to an end in 2009. So don’t be confused.” Source
Yet over the summer the US and the Iraqi government have rather quietly converged on the contours of a deal to keep thousands of US soldiers, to be described as "instructors," in Iraq past December. Reidar Visser unravels the tangled Iraqi politics behind the negotiations in "Of 'Instructors' and Interests in Iraq," at Middle East Report Online.

No wonder the US treasury is empty... There is "A Secret War in 120 Countries", and the US is involved in every single one of them. Meet the Pentagon's new power elite. They want your money so their friends in industry can get richer while you get kept in the dark and fed BS.
