In The News:
Thanks this morning to ChrisM, my MP3Angel, for supplying the news and commentary audio files.

Our war on Afghanistan spirals downward as the new British Prime Minister meets with General Petraeus to discuss Britain's limited future in the Afghan theatre of operations, as 17 NATO troops are killed in the last three days with a total of forty five killed this month. A slightly higher attrition rate than experienced in our war on Iraq.

Meanwhile, pay attention to the NeoFasc.... I mean NeoCons... because if you don't, it's going to be a "Long War" (as laid out in the Quadrennial Defense Review.)

Our government is planning to stay at war for the next 80 years

How will they do THAT? You ask.

Simple.

"They lied us into one war, and now they're trying to get the U.S. into another." ...with Iran...

New York and Illinois have deprived "Our Boys" in Afghanistan of their vote as screw-ups in absentee ballots delivered to military personnel become glaringly obvious.

A federal judge in Florida has ruled that Obama's Health Reform plan may be unconstitutional.

The Department of Justice has asked the federal judge responsible for the injunction against Don't Ask Don't Tell that it be set aside to allow congress to legislate on the Pentagon's policy without alleged delays caused by the ruling (?).

A Sarah Palin meetup yesterday in San Jose California drew only 1,800 people. She will be in Sacramento today, and Orange county tomorrow, where she MAY receive a somewhat warmer reception.

A Facebook Quotable on the Republicans and "Teabaggers" from an anonymous friend:
"If you repeat a lie often enough, you are a Republican.
If you're too stupid to know you're lying, you are a Teabagger."

See here for more on that.
Today is the deadline for removal and replacement of ALL of the old style gas pump handle locks in California. They are known to cause spitback and spillage.

In OTHER News...

This headline SHOULD read "California Banks GOUGING Welfare Recipients".
Welfare recipients pay banks millions in fees

Sacramento -- Banks are making nearly $1.5 million a month in fees by charging California welfare recipients to withdraw their benefits using ATMs and debit cards - an amount that has nearly doubled since 2008.

...many of the banks benefited from taxpayer funds in the federal government bailout, yet have increased their surcharges significantly in recent years. More at the SF Chronicle
These usurious banks also make "Payday" loans at incredibly high interest rates to aid recipients, whom they MUST KNOW can only pay them down under extreme financial duress or not at all often causing them to lose their account at the bank.
