Counsel for the FEC argued that the Court show follow precedent, saying, "For over 100 years Congress has made a judgment that corporations must be subject to special rules when they participate in elections and this Court has never questioned that judgment." Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito seemed open to removing federal limits on corporate campaign spending, while Justices John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, and Sonia Sotomayor implied that they would issue a much narrower ruling. Justices Clarence Thomas, Anthony Kennedy, and Antonin Scalia have already said that they support overturning Austin and McConnell.

President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress yesterday focused on his Health Care Reform plan, and he sweetened the pot by adding a limitation on torts (lawsuits) if your doctor 'goofs'. Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri has resigned, unable to get parliamentary approval for a new government, and Hezbollah, due to it's parliamentary majority, for all intents and purposes, is in charge of the Lebanese government. More from al-Jazzera:
It has been just over 12 months since politicians in Lebanon signed an agreement that ended three years of political crisis.
Now, a disagreement over forming a new national unity government is threatening to turn into another political stand-off after Hezbollah and its allies rejected a proposed line-up by Saad al-Hariri, the prime minister designate. [In Full]
South Ossetia and Abkhazia have a 'posse': Hugo Chavez has announced he will recognize the 'separatist' (countries formerly under Russian control and willingly granted independence) countries of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, newly minted nations the U.S. is training the Georgian army to attack.
In case you wonder why people end up enraged enough to drive airplanes into American buildings... The U.S. is going to name FIFTY EIGHT countries where slave and child labor is used to manufacture goods sold to American consumers. We'll see if any action is taken in the way of disallowing the imports from those nations... Don't hold your breath.
From the San Francisco Examiner:
...America has not been left untainted by child labor, as we wield our dollars to demand cheap products, we often fail to see that while the price to pay for such consumer products is not ours, their is a high price to pay and it often comes at the hands of children. These products tainted with child and slave labor flood our market place and our homes. However one does not have to look beyond out borders to see grave violations, as children are also engaged in child labor right here at home. Child peddling rings are active in most states, such as many who go door to door selling s of chocolate or magazines. Other children, especially immigrant and illegal residents, are held in sweatshops in our large cities. Domestic and foreign national children are forced to work in the commercial sex industry, children are held to work as domestic servants, and much more. [In Full]
...If you've ever wondered HOW we can afford to buy all that "Stuff" in the brightly lit shopping malls of America, and buy it for a pittance, slave and child labor are only the tip of the consumer crap iceberg... the story begins at the resources... Extractive resources, and ends in our overflowing garbage dumps.
A primer, hosted by Annie Leonard...
