A Synopsis Of This Morning's News...
H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files.

«o» The oil companies are in the news. Yesterday president Obama went to the White House Rose Garden and made a speech saying that congress should drop tax breaks and subsidies for the oil companies.

«o» The Republicans don't like that idea... further, congressman Ryans 'slasher' budget passed the house with an overwhelming majority yesterday but it's sure to die in the Senate. The House also voted to kill any possibility of the Simpson-Bowles budget balancing amendment's passage.

«o» Unlike the US House of Representatives, collective economic planning works - It's been 13 years since China opened it's national oil company, and they've just reached number one in global sales surpassing EXXON/Mobil, BP, or any other Western oilco.

«o» If you're not a vegetarian you've been eating it... 40% of all ground beef sold in the US has at least 10-15% "Pink Slime" content. Pink Slime, for want of a more complex description, is pulped and liquefied beef scraps with ammonia added. Many restaurant chains are dropping beef with the 'additive' due to unpalatable publicity, but no one's talking about Hot Dogs... Are they even really pork and beef at all?

«o» Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is on her way to Saudi Arabia for meetings with King Abdullah before her trip to a sixty nation meeting about 'what to do about Syria'. How about we just let their new constitution stand and reel in NATO's al-Qaeda and CIA mercenaries who are destabilizing the country?

Their newly passed by a large margin of voters constitutional reform plan:

«o» Pakistan is still negotiating with general Allen in regard to US relationship with the country. "Drones over Balochistan" and other regions of that sovereign nation being a contentious point in their talks.

In OTHER News:

Canada is going to cut their penny from circulation because it costs more to mint and handle than it's face value.

...And the Global Genocide of indigenous peoples continues with the 'evacuation' of the Kayapó tribe - an Indian people of the Amazon region in Brazil's Mato Grosso, to allow for construction of a hydroelectric dam.

The cooperation between the federal government's troops and the local (ie. extractive resource companies and interest OWN them) corrupt government's 'police' is notable in this photo.

It looks like these guys were warning the photographer if he stuck around his lifespan could be a lot shorter than he thought.

Which lead this commentator to note... again:

This is Razer Raygun saying remember...

A Synopsis Of This Morning's News...
H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files.

[After the commentary, in light of the passing of Bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs... His son Randy, and Joan Osborne, with a reminder for us all. "We're only passin' thru". Courtesy of the respective artists.]

Breaking: Tim DeChristopher, the prisoner of conscience who 'disrupted' a BLM land auction intended for oil and gas interests, was moved back to the MINIMUM SECURITY CAMP late on the night of Wed March 28th, after FCI Herlong, the BOP office in Washington, DC and members of Congress received thousands of phone calls… from YOU!
Peaceful Uprising will not stop investigating this situation because the most important questions remain unanswered: Why was Congress involved in moving Tim into isolated confinement, and who ordered the investigation?~~Peaceful Uprising Press Release
«o» Nightlights over Afghanistan - Due to the tendency of the ISAF's Afghan miliary trainees to kill their trainers US troops sleeping quarters will be segregated from the Afghani troopers with sentries in place.

«o» The final day of the US Supreme Court hearings on ObamaCare did not focus on whether the boilerplate left out of the multi-part bill that would normally state the rest of the bill will remain in force if any other part is declared void by the court, which means we should expect an all or nothing decision. There will be a test vote tomorrow and then the justices go into committee. More.

«o» The coup in Mali continues to hold under what appears to be a 'conservative government' with the US and other nations holding back on approval. One reason may be the neo-colonial government it overthrew was much friendlier to mining interests, with the current regime considering nationalizing the industry.

«o» In Congress the Simpson-Bowles amendment went in front of the House yesterday but only thirty eight members voted for it. Today the draconian Ryan budget goes to the floor. The federal budget is required to be complete by April first... Good luck.

«o» The US and South Korea are holding their annual joint war games with live ammo right on the North Korean border even as negotiations with North Korea regarding aid continues. There are 9,000 US Marines and 1,000 South Korean troops engaging in this exercise... a reduction from previous years.

RIP Earl Scruggs:
Bluegrass pioneer Earl Scruggs dies at age 88

By Chris Talbott, Associated Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — It may be impossible to overstate the importance of bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs to American music. A pioneering banjo player who helped create modern country music, his sound is instantly recognizable and as intrinsically wrapped in the tapestry of the genre as Johnny Cash’s baritone or Hank Williams’ heartbreak.

Scruggs died Wednesday morning at age 88 of natural causes. The legacy he helped build with bandleader Bill Monroe, guitarist Lester Flatt and the rest of the Blue Grass Boys was evident all around Nashville, where he died in an area hospital. His string-bending, mind-blowing way of picking helped transform a regional sound into a national passion. [In Full @ Salon]

In OTHER News:
If the description is correct, it seems like a congressman is trying to intimidate (Tim) DeChristopher for wanting to return money. To amplify the punishment because of an email is cruel. That the punishment is to place DeChristopher into solitary confinement is even more inhumane. In fact, it is what a fascist country would do to a political prisoner.
Environmental activist Tim DeChristopher, who was given a two-year sentence in prison for making fake bids in a Utah public land auction that was later found to be corrupt, has reportedly been moved to solitary confinement after a member of Congress contacted the Bureau of Prisons.

Peaceful Uprising, a climate change activism group which DeChristopher co-founded, states in a press release posted on March 27:
On the evening of Friday March 9th, Tim DeChristopher was summarily removed from the minimum security camp where he has been held since September 2011, and moved into the FCI Herlong’s Special Housing Unit (SHU). Tim was informed by Lieutenant Weirich that he was being moved to the SHU because an unidentified congressman had called from Washington DC, complaining of an email that Tim had sent to a friend. Tim was inquiring about the reported business practices of one of his legal fund contributors, threatening to return the money if their values no longer aligned with his own.

According to Prison officials, Tim will continue to be held in isolated confinement pending an investigation. There is no definite timeline for inmates being held in the SHU — often times they await months for the conclusion of an investigation.
[Dissenter @ Firedoglake has more] (Still more @ CommonDreams)
From Peaceful Uprising's Site:
And get THIS:

It has come to our attention that William Koch entered into an antitrust settlement where his company, Gunnison Energy, and SG Interest, a Texas energy company, conspired to orchestrate the bidding at a BLM oil and gas lease auction in Colorado. They memorialized this conspiracy in a memorandum of understanding that was subsequently revealed by a whistleblower.

The Department of Justice settled the matter by having each company pay a $275,000 fine, and allowed the conspirators to retain their successful BLM oil and gas leases, without any personal consequences. Tim was charged with conspiring to defeat the Act that created the auction, (a felony) and for making false statements to the Government (also a felony).

These oil and gas companies actually conspired to defeat an identical BLM auction, and made false statements to the Government (according to the Department of Justice). No Oil and Gas executive was charged with felonies and thrown in jail. They were given a token slap on the wrist and went back to drilling. Tim, a peaceful protester, who simply embarrassed the BLM by catching them making big mistakes, is now in a TINY CELL because someone from CONGRESS wants to keep him even quieter? WTF is going on here??

This is not justice, it is political persecution. [Full Press Release @ Peaceful Uprising]

A Synopsis Of This Morning's News...
H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files.

[After the commentary... Since no one likes us anyhow, Randy Newman vamps on paelo-conservative John Bolton and suggests we simply drop the big one now. "Political Science", courtesy of the respective artists and KPIG Radio Freedom California Earth]
«o» It's the final day of US Supreme Court hearings on ObamaCare. Yesterday the justices considered if forcing American citizens to buy health insurance from commercial entities would be considered a tax. The court rejected that argument. Today is the one that can throw a screw into the works... It regards the boilerplate in multi-part bills that states if one part of a bill is declared void by a court the rest of the bill remains. the Obama administration, accidentally OR intentionally (yours truly cynically suggests the latter) left that part out. In other words there is no provision for the ObamaCare bill to be continued in the legislature if even a single part is tossed by the court, which is almost certain to happen to at least one of the many elements of the bill.

«o» The nuclear disarmament meeting in Seoul Korea continues with the big news involving President Obama and Russian president Medvedev accidentally having the following conversation over an open mic:
President Obama: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space.

President Medvedev: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…

President Obama: This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.

President Medvedev: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.
The Republicans, led by Mitt Romney, have jumped all over that exchange:
“We live in a dangerous world. American strength and American constancy are critical to the preservation of peace. Too often, the United States under your leadership has been neither strong nor constant. Your inadvertently recorded remarks to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in South Korea raise questions about whether a new period of even greater weakness and inconstancy would lie ahead if you are reelected.” [Mitt Romney's Open Letter In Full]
Marc Lynch (aka abuaardvark) of the Neoliberal CNAS think tank could only state; "Just in case anyone worried we might have a serious foreign policy debate this year...".

@AuntieImperial >> @abuaardvark: I can't even tell you how low my expectations are. This MAY be the high point.

It might be noted one of the signatories on Romney's letter of complaint, John Bolton, is the guy who said, while acting as [and I DO MEAN 'acting'] US Ambassador to the UN; "If the U.N. secretary building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference")

«o» In Africa, Ghana's Mali's coup which overthrew 30 years of nominally democratic government has caused the US and France to cancel foreign policy transactions and credit with the country and the route for fuel to the country has been shut off at it's only source. Neighboring countries are hostile to the coup but for now it stands.

«o» Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has fired his chief of staff, laid off a third of his paid crew and cut his appearances in the run up to the Republican convention in Tampa Florida.

«o» Today is the final day for the pope in Cuba where he'll attend a mass rally and blessing in Revolutionary Square. He will also meet with Fidel Castro where he's expected to cajole Castro to look for a third way outside of communism.

He's just the person to talk about rational systems of government...

Pope Benedict XVI criticized Cuba’s Marxist system earlier today, saying he and the all-powerful being he personally represents find it backwards and out of step with common sense.  Denouncing the Cuban regime in a language that’s been dead for centuries, Benedict noted that Marxism’s focus on state control of the means of production would actually work quite well if – like the Pope – Raul Castro was incapable of making mistakes.

Source: Free Wood Post

«o» Latest measurements have the Sierra snowpack at 65% of normal up from 35% just a month ago, but it's unlikely to be enough to avoid water usage restrictions in California's Central Valley agricultural region.

«o» Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has assured us that the killing of our soldiers by the Afghanis we are 'training' (See this for more on that joke) will not deter us from "our" goal of building an independent and capable Afghan military to protect an installed government that isn't survivable after the ISAF's departure. As if they aren't 'independent and capable'. The ones we supplied in the 90s... The TALIBAN seem to be doing a pretty good job of driving the West out of the country. Three more Westerners... Two British troops and an American were killed yesterday.

«o» The Iraqi government in Baghdad will not offer a resolution asking for Syria's Bashar al-Assad to step down at the upcoming Arab League meeting. They want a dramatic change in government (done) but they will not lead an Arab League Jihad against Syria.

«o» Today is the day the US Supreme Court will discuss the constitutionality of the US government's requiring Americans to purchase health insurance from for-profit commercial insurance companies. Decisions will most likely come down from the bench in late June... Just in time to become a 'hot button' in the upcoming presidential elections.

«o» NASA has launched five rockets from Virginia that are to explode in the atmosphere for the purpose of observing the Gulf Stream storm patterns.

«o» President Obama is taking a strong stand at the nuclear disarmament conference in Seoul Korea with a request for the reprocessing of enriched nuclear material stockpiles into nuclear power plant fuel rods.

Which totally contradicts EVERYTHING on the 911 tape or witness testimony. Zimmerman LIED TO THE POLICE IN A MURDER INVESTIGATION!
It is day 27 since he killed Trayvon Martin, and George Zimmerman is still free.

We live in quite a country. A celebrity with zero talent is flour bombed and the person throwing the flour is arrested immediately as if they just shot the president.

Flour!
“I think ‘What if that was some other substance? What if that person had a dangerous weapon?”;

“And so we are definitely changing things up a little bit, amping up security, taking some measures, and… I’m gonna definitely deal with it because it is not acceptable.”

A Synopsis Of This Morning's News...
H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files.

[Note: Due to 'cockpit trouble' at KPIG last Friday there was no usable news or commentary audio... Sorry.]
«o» Today is the first day of three special sessions in the US Supreme Court which will be ruling on the constitutionality of the Obama administration's (mostly unfunded) national health care plan, AKA ObamaCare. Today's session will hear arguments as to whether the court has jurisdiction to deliver a ruling at all until the plan goes into effect in 2014. Tomorrow the court will rule on a BIG ISSUE... whether the government can force individual citizens to buy a commercial product, which IS what health insurance IS in America. The last day will consist of other arguments. Expect decisions to come down in June... Just at the time US election campaigns are at a peak.

«o» Former vice president Dick Cheney had a 'last resort' heart transplant over the weekend. Cheney has had around five heart attacks over the last few years and if this transplant doesn't take he has little chance for survival. If it does, it buys him MAYBE half a decade more of life.

«o» President Obama is in South Korea for fifty nation talks on nuclear weapons reductions. This comes at a time when North Korea is challenging recent agreements with the US on food-for-weapons reduction by planning a rocket launch.

«o» The Pakistani parliament is in the process of discussing the US/Pakistan relationship. There is a lot of US funding dependent on the re-opening of the Khyber Pass, our primary resupply route for the war on Afghanistan.

In OTHER News:
Speaking of our war on Afghanistan...

What is an Afghani life worth to America when there's worldwide bad PR?

More than usual:
[JURIST] The US government has paid compensation to the families of the victims of a shooting spree [JURIST report] allegedly committed by a US soldier, according to statements made by an Afghan elder. The families of the victims killed [AP report] in the incident received $50,00...0 and the families of wounded victims received $11,000. A US official confirmed that payments were made [CNN report], but refused to comment on the specific amounts. The amounts paid for victims of the shooting spree are significantly larger than what is normally paid to civilian victims of military operations. Civilian victims and their families are typically paid $2,000 for each civilian death and $1,000 for each wounded civilian. [More @ Jurist, with links]
Note that the Pentagon is DESPERATE to rationalize how ONE PERSON in a society that's HEAVILY ARMED could kill so many people in the wake of claims by the Afghan government and military that up to 20 shooters were involved and air support was supplied. The Pentagon is now claiming the captured shooter Robert Bales didn't simply 'pause to reload', they're claiming he actually made two trips to the scene of the crime.

Right.

A Synopsis Of This Morning's News...
H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files.

«o» NATO and the Karzai government are negotiating the details of the removal of combat patrol troops from the villages of Afghanistan.

«o» al Qaeda in Yemen has taken credit for the assassination of an American English teacher in the country. They claim the teacher was killed because he was proselytizing Christianity, indicating more than just educating the students about the religion, but cajoling and exhorting Muslim students to convert. It's a serious crime to attempt the conversion of Muslims to any other religion under Sharia Law. The family of the teacher is being evacuated from the country before any further action is taken against them.

«o» The South Korean government is planning to test a long range rocket as allowed under a 2001 treaty but the launch may violate the 165 mile range in the treaty, putting North Korea's capital Pyongyang in targeting range. The US, which is negotiating with the North is attempting to dissuade the South from that launch.

«o» Reports are FINALLY surfacing (these claims were being made within a day of the incident by the Afghan government) in the MSM that Robert Bsles, the US soldier jailed in the Panjwaii Afghanistan civilian massacre was not acting alone. Statements by the villagers claim they were lined up against a wall and told, Operation Phoenix style, that the killings would continue until the villagers stopped supporting the Taliban. The 'metrics' for judging that cessation of support are unknown. Other reports state the group of as many as twenty soldiers were brought to the site by helicopter, which provided cover.

Meanwhile, NATO fatalities in Afghanistan: 22 percent this year at hands of Afghan Army, police. "Gen. John Allen urged Congress yesterday to 'stay the course' but offered little encouraging data."

«o» The Supreme Court has ruled that a homeowner must have some recourse to contest the confiscation of property by the EPA in the wake of that agency's attempt to expropriate property in Tennessee they claimed were 'wetlands' despite the fact that there was pond, water, or spring on the property. The family whose home is on the land was being fined $130,000 a day.

A Synopsis Of This Morning's News...
H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files.
«o» President Obama reached out to Iran for the Persian New Year saying he wanted to open talks and attempt to wind down the rhetoric about their nuclear power program. Some US Republicans and some Iranian theocrats holding political office In Iran are denouncing the president's move. I'd conjecture on the similarities between the two but good taste implies I desist lest the Iranian theocrats seem more reasonable in their opinion of president Obama.

«o» A US English teacher has been assassinated in a Yemeni university town leading to the distinct possibility that all US citizens in the country are in danger despite the fact that our drone strikes are continuing to wipe out that county's population a few citizens at a time... Or perhaps that's the reason US citizens are in danger there.

«o» The transportation bill passed last week by the Senate is now in the house of representatives, and despite the fact that the entire transportation infrastructure of the country will begin disintegrating if the bill isn't passed by the end of the month, in it's first day back in session, the house Republicans spent the whole day haggling over the use of 32 acres of federal land.

«o» The results for the Illinois Republican primaries are pretty much in and Romney, lagging the predictions, took the race by 12 points. There are a couple of other primaries coming up this week.

In OTHER News:

Since the MSM doesn't seem to be covering the Syrian destabilization campaign, yours truly will, and this group of clips may explain why the West has dropped their coverage like a hot Falafel:

It has been confirmed that members of Libya’s Al Qaeda affiliate, the NATO-backed LIFG 'rebels', are now literally leading the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA).
In recent months, a certain number of Arab newspapers, favorable to the Al-Assad administration, discussed the infiltration into Syria of 600 to 1,500 fighters from the Islamic Fighting Group in Libya (IFGL), rebranded Al Qaeda in Libya since November 2007. In late November 2011, the Libyan press reported the attempt by the Zintan militia to detain Abdel Hakim Belhaj, companion of Osama Bin Laden [2] and historic leader of Al Qaeda in Libya, who became military governor of Tripoli by the grace of NATO [3]. The scene took place at Tripoli airport, as he was leaving for Turkey. Finally, Turkish newspapers mentioned Mr. Belhaj’s presence at the Turkish-Syrian... [In Full @ VoltaireNet]
Let it also be noted that the Syrian 'rebels' are also engaged in a campaign of murder and torture... Just like their Libyan counterparts:
The (Human Rights Watch) report indicates that Syria's opposition, like the NATO-backed rebels in Libya, are lawless, unprincipled, sectarian, extremists. They are far from "democracy activists" or "unarmed, helpless civilians," and very far from being "victims" of a disproportionate use of force... [More from LandDestroyer]
Meanwhile Middle East Report Online addresses at least part of yours truly's longstanding theory that the Syrian destabilization op currently in progress, although apparently no longer MSM newsworthy in the absence of anti-Syrian-government war porn, has A LOT to do with the Kurds. It doesn't address my hypothesis that the Kurds will attempt a breakaway state on the Iraq/Iran border, steal oil, and transit it to Kirkuk, across Iraq and Syria, meaning Syria's Assad needed to be removed or 'put on notice' regarding any attempt to impede the purloined oil, but there's a lot of detail in this article that points towards that possibility.

Denise Natali lays out all the "Syrian Kurdish Cards," @ MERO.

A Synopsis Of This Morning's News...

H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files.

After the commentary, George Carlin.
«o» #Tango GONE! #OccupyDavis has managed to drive USBank off campus. They've been picketing and harassing the bank branch since the Pepper spray incident last November 19 where one John Pike, a UC Davis 'police officer' sprayed a group of students on campus (90,000 hits on this YouTube video of the incident alone) who were simply sitting, with pepper spray.

Which led to a Meme that hasn't quit since:

Pike-MattiseModerne

Since the focus of #Occupy is intended to be the corrupt behavior of banks in our global society, and according to Adbusters, the people who first broached the uprising, the demand for outside money out of US politics and full funding of all major federal elections with public funds... this is a definitely "a win", directly to the former, and tangentially targeting the latter.

«o» Mayday Mayday! No work No school, don't buy anything! In light of the recent rough treatment by the NYPD of revelers in New York's Zuccotti Square attempting to celebrate the six month anniversary of the birth of #Occupy, there is a call out for a General Strike on May 1 2012.

Take the day off and enjoy some leisure time... After all, Americans don't get as much leisure time as citizens of... ...almost ANY of the other industrialized nations:

[Chart courtesy of NationMaster.com]

«o» The history of a cyberattack on the Iranian nuclear power program has been verified. One worm implanted by Israeli hackers changed the settings in the Iranian lab's computer and sped up the enrichment centrifuges causing around 1,000 of the centrifuges to self-destruct. Another worm attacked the mathematics of the control system.

«o» The Illinois primary happens today with Romney favored 2:1 but Rich Santorum didn't manage to get registered for the ballot in all districts so that distancing was inevitable.

«o» Rachel Maddow with the help of other journalists and researchers has broken a story that all enriched nuclear materials, some as much as 70% enriched, have been removed from the country of Mexico and delivered to Oak Ridge nuclear labs in Tennessee for reprocessing. Since Mexico doesn't have a nuclear weapons program it begs the question... Why did they have nuclear materials enriched to 70% and W(here)TF did it come from?

In OTHER News:

In light of the commentary, and the already budding #AmericanSpring, let it be duly noted that one of the more socially useful websites existent on the internet has gone dark. Namebase.org, Social networking and web research for the rest of us has gone dark. A history of the site at Wikipedia, and peruse this note... A Note Of Appreciation From The Rich, which had appeared on a Nambase page.

A Note Of Appreciation From The Rich

let's be honest. You'll never win the lottery.

On the other hand, the chances are pretty good that you'll slave away at some miserable job the rest of your life. That's because you were in all likelihood born into the wrong social class. Let's face it -- you're a member of the working caste. Sorry!

As a result, you don't have the education, upbringing, connections, manners, appearance, and good taste to ever become one of us.

In fact, you'd probably need a book the size of the yellow pages to list all the unfair advantages we have over you. That's why we're so relieved to know that you still continue to believe all those silly fairy tales about "justice" and "equal opportunity" in America.

Of course, in a hierarchical social system like ours, there's never been much room at the top to begin with. Besides, it's already occupied by us -- and we like it up here so much that we intend to keep it that way.

But at least there's usually someone lower in the social hierarchy you can feel superior to and kick in the teeth once in a while. Even a lowly dishwasher can easily find some poor slob further down in the pecking order to sneer and spit at.

So be thankful for migrant workers, prostitutes, and homeless street people.

Always remember that if everyone like you were economically secure and socially privileged like us, there would be no one left to fill all those boring, dangerous, low-paid jobs in our economy.

And no one to fight our wars for us, or blindly follow orders in our totalitarian corporate institutions. And certainly no one to meekly go to their grave without having lived a full and creative life. So please, keep up the good work!

You also probably don't have the same greedy, compulsive drive to possess wealth, power, and prestige that we have. And even though you may sincerely want to change the way you live, you're also afraid of the very change you desire, thus keeping you and others like you in a nervous state of limbo.

So you go through life mechanically playing your assigned social role, terrified what others would think should you ever dare to "break out of the mold."

Naturally, we try to play you off against each other whenever it suits our purposes: high-waged workers against low-waged, unionized against non-unionized, Black against White, male against female, American workers against Japanese against Mexican against....

We continually push your wages down by invoking "foreign competition," "the law of supply and demand," "national security," or "the bloated federal deficit." We throw you on the unemployed scrap heap if you step out of line or jeopardize our profits.

And to give you an occasional break from the monotony of our daily economic blackmail, we allow you to participate in our stage-managed electoral shell games, better known to you ordinary folks as "elections."

Happily, you haven't a clue as to what's really happening -- instead, you blame "Aliens," "Tree-hugging Environmentalists," "Niggers," "Jews," Welfare Queens," and countless others for your troubled situation.

We're also very pleased that many of you still embrace the "work ethic," even though most jobs in our economy degrade the environment, undermine your physical and emotional health, and basically suck your one and only life right out of you.

We obviously don't know much about work, but we're sure glad you do!

Of course, life could be different. Society could be intelligently organized to meet the real needs of the general population. You and others like you could collectively fight to free yourselves from our domination. But you don't know that. In fact, you can't even imagine that another way of life is possible.

And that's probably the greatest, most significant achievement of our system -- robbing you of your imagination, your creativity, your ability to think and act for yourself.

So we'd truly like to thank you from the bottom of our heartless hearts. Your loyal sacrifice makes possible our corrupt luxury; your work makes our system work.

Thanks so much for "knowing your place" -- without even knowing it!

Rich $cum of America
He who hath the gold makes all the rules.

Please make copies and share with other members of your caste!

A Synopsis Of This Morning's News...

H/t to ChrisM my MP3Angel for supplying the audio files.
«o» The situation involving Robert Bales, the Panjwaii shooter, has him currently 'safe' at Leavenworth with his lawyer visiting him to figure out how to approach his potential death penalty trial. Apparently he was drunk, and the Afghan government and army is claiming he WAS NOT alone, but that item is notoriously absent from Western reporting which focuses on HIS problems while the whole of Afghanistan is enraged.

Robert Fisk writing in the independent says "So What?" in regard to Bale's personal life.
Robert Fisk: Madness is not the reason for this massacre

I'm getting a bit tired of the "deranged" soldier story.

It was predictable, of course. The 38-year-old staff sergeant who massacred 16 Afghan civilians, including nine children, near Kandahar this week had no sooner returned to base than the defence experts and the think-tank boys and girls announced that he was "deranged". Not an evil, wicked, mindless terrorist – which he would be, of course, if he had been an Afghan, especially a Taliban – but merely a guy who went crazy.

This was the same nonsense used to describe the murderous US soldiers who ran amok in the Iraqi town of Haditha. It was the same word used about Israeli soldier Baruch Goldstein who massacred 25 Palestinians in Hebron – something I pointed out in this paper only hours before the staff sergeant became suddenly "deranged" in Kandahar province.

"Apparently deranged", "probably deranged", journalists announced, a soldier who "might have suffered some kind of breakdown" (The Guardian), a "rogue US soldier" (Financial Times) whose "rampage" (The New York Times) was "doubtless [sic] perpetrated in an act of madness" (Le Figaro). Really? Are we supposed to believe this stuff? Surely, if he was entirely deranged, our staff sergeant would have killed 16 of his fellow Americans. He would have slaughtered his mates and then set fire to their bodies. But, no, he didn't kill Americans. He chose to kill Afghans. There was a choice involved. So why did he kill Afghans? We learned yesterday that the soldier had recently seen one of his mates with his legs blown off.

But so what?

The Afghan narrative has been curiously lobotomised – censored, even – by those who have been trying to explain this appalling massacre in Kandahar. They remembered the Koran burnings – when American troops in Bagram chucked Korans on a bonfire – and the deaths of six Nato soldiers, two of them Americans, which followed. But blow me down if they didn't forget – and this applies to every single report on the latest killings – a remarkable and highly significant statement from the US army's top commander in Afghanistan, General John Allen, exactly 22 days ago. Indeed, it was so unusual a statement that I clipped the report of Allen's words from my morning paper and placed it inside my briefcase for future reference.

Allen told his men that "now is not the time for revenge for the deaths of two US soldiers killed in Thursday's riots"... [More @ The Independent UK]
Here's a view from the Arab world:
Afghanistan: The Children Of A Lesser God
by Roqayah on March 17, 2012

Staff Sgt Robert Bales, the American soldier allegedly behind the killing of 16 Afghan villagers in the sanctuary of their beds, most of them women and children, on March 11 is now on his way to the United States:
“An American soldier suspected of shooting 16 civilians in Afghanistan on Sunday is being moved to a military base in Kansas, US officials say. Kuwait confirms the combatant suspected in the Afghan killings has left the country after a stopover.

The soldier is expected to arrive at Fort Leavenworth on Friday afternoon, says his civilian attorney, John Henry Browne. According to Browne, his defendant could be tried at any major US garrison, but Afghanistan as an option is ruled out.”
There is little outrage in light of such a loathsome revelation and besides the theatrics which will surely envelope the trial there shall be little to no attention given to the victims, who will be again made to pay for their foreign dispositions. Their identities will once more numb the minds of millions.

Children Of A Lesser God

In Afghanistan the dead are made to die twice; first at the hands of a drove of “rogue” soldiers and later at the hands of those who see them as degenerates:
These rag-heads from Kandahar, these sand-niggers of South Asia, these camel-jockey’s and their offspring are inferior beings; they are the children of a lesser god. Let their corpses fill the streets and their impure blood soak the soles of our shoes, after-all what are they but video-game caricatures of the villains we dispose of with a single head-shot? Their first language is not English but instead an assortment of guttural verbal discharge, their attire is not Western and their mannerisms are brutish. They are unlike us and for this let us do away with them as we would any other foreign scourge, as we have done with those who came before them; another notch in our belt, another 100 points.
Staff Sgt Robert Bales, the sole accused in the massacre in Kandahar, Afghanistan, is now being bathed with talk of “combat stress symptoms — anxiety, depression, anger.” Despite the moistness of soil piled atop the graves filled with the bodies of scorched Afghan civilians the blood is being wiped away with premature concern for US Staff Sgt. Bales’ mental health. This story, we have heard before. These roles, they have been played before. And the indifferent reactions, we have witnessed before. [In Full @ The Frustrated Arab]
«o» Saturday was the six month anniversary of #OccupyWallStreet and people attempted to retake Zuccotti Square only to be countered by massive amounts of police violence, clubbing and gassing. There is now-viral footage a medic attempting to assist a downed 'protester' being beaten severely and bounces off of various fixed objects. The New York City Council has noted that undue use of force and at least five council members have signed a statement of disgust, and are demanding an investigation.
Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez

We, the undersigned elected officials, are deeply concerned with the excessive level of force employed by the NYPD on the night of March 17th, both in evicting peaceful demonstrators from Zuccotti Park and in arresting those who marched following the eviction.
...
From its inception six months ago, the Occupy Wall Street movement has consistently proven itself to be guilty of little other than bringing together tens of thousands of people to exuberantly exercise their Constitutional freedom to assemble and protest economic and social inequality in America. Yet, throughout the history of this non-violent movement, we have seen the NYPD using violent physical force against demonstrators who were threatening neither life nor property.

It is a sad reality that the events of March 17th come as little surprise to anyone familiar with the department’s relationship to Occupy Wall Street’s Constitutionally-protected activities. Some of us personally witnessed police officers beating demonstrators without cause, and photographic and video evidence points to further unprovoked assaults by NYPD officers, both in Zuccotti Park and in the march which followed. These images will continue to disturb residents of this city in the days to come.

As elected officials tasked with overseeing the NYPD and the public safety of New Yorkers, we are forced to say: enough is enough. We recognize the invaluable work that the department has done to protect our communities and prevent terrorism, but we cannot stand by as we become internationally renowned for the disregard our city shows for the freedom of assembly. As the New York Times editorial board put it today, while the NYPD has been given expanded investigative powers in the fight against terrorism, “the department should not interpret that as a license to run roughshod over the Constitution.” [In Full]
«o» In Illinois, where two former governors are in prison at the same time, the primary shapes up with Romney and Santorum pretty even in the race but fraud in the vote should be expected. Mind you this is the political environment Barack Obama cut his chops in and it's worth noting that a black man rising to the top of the Chicago political machine only indicates one thing... He's more corrupt than the most corrupt white person who might have risen to the top of that RICO Act poster child of a city, and he is your president. Think on that when he makes his campaign 'promises'.

«o» Congress is out for the next few days but will get a quorum together to pass the transportation act. Nothing else will get done until next week.
